Earlier this week, a Kansas Turnpike Authority Trooper was stopped with its emergency lights activated in the left lane of traffic on I-70 blocking a wrecked vehicle in the roadway, according to a social media report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The trooper was in his vehicle, along with a witness of that previous crash. A motorist failed to move over and struck the stationary patrol car.
"This is why it’s important to Slow Down and Move Over." If you can’t tell exactly where the flashing lights are - on the shoulder or in the lane - you have time to react if you’ve already slowed to prepare for an emergency ahead."
"The new Move Over law includes moving over for anyone on the side of the road with hazard lights activated. For everyone’s safety, please remember to Slow Down. Move Over."
