Work will soon begin on renovations at Krug Park with a groundbreaking ceremony set to be held later this week.

St. Joseph District One councilmember Madison Davis says this project is one that has been in the works for quite a while now

"To revitalize Krug Park to a place where it was once before, and maybe even set it up for a better future than what we have currently," Davis tells host of the KFEQ Hotline Barry Birr. "I think Krug Park is many things for many different people and everyone seems to enjoy it, whether they live in St. Joseph or don't live in St. Joseph they have a Krug Park memory."

Davis says the main focus of this project is to bring things in Krug Park back to where they are usable.

"Where we have restrooms that work, where we electricity at the state, where some of those sidewalk connections are made that are making it easier to access the bowl, or castle, or those kinds of places," Davis explains. "To make improvements to the children's circus area, to bring back those great slides that so many people have talked about, that I have never actually tried, so I'm excited for that."

Davis says the goal is to repair and replace what is already at Krug Park to continue setting a positive trajectory.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Thursday at the Krug Park amphitheater at 4pm.
