BENTON COUNTY —A Missouri woman died in an accident just after 4p.m. Sunday in Benton County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Derrick R. Spain, 27, Warsaw, was northbound on MO 7 just north of Walking Horse Lane.
The van crossed the center line and struck a 2012 Chevy Malibu driven by Bailey C. Jelinek, 24, Deepwater, head-on.
After impact the Chrysler and Chevy rotated counterclockwise. A southbound 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 driven by Alan C. Haverland, 63, Deepwater, struck both vehicles.
Jelnik was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported Spain, passengers in the van including Kayla A. Rieves, 25 and three children to Bothwell Hospital. Rieves was later transferred to University Hospital. Haverland was not injured.
Spain, Reives and Jelnik were not wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP.
