KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a deadly hit-and-run incident that occurred just before 7:30p.m. Wednesday in Kansas City.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white United States Postal Service Dodge Van was southbound on Benton Boulevard approaching the intersection of East 30th Street in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD officer Alayna Gonzalez.

A westbound gray Chevrolet Equinox, on East 30th Street, entered the intersection from the stop sign.

The U.S. Postal Service van struck the SUV.  As a result of the collision the U.S. Postal Service van overturned onto the driver's side, partially ejecting the driver, a Postal Service Employee, from the vehicle.

The Postal Service employee was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the Chevrolet Equinox fled the scene on foot and has not been identified or located.

This is fatality #26 compared to #24 at this time last year, according to Gonzalez.
