3 dead after 4-vehicle crash on Missouri highway

CRAWFORD COUNTY–Three people died in an accident just before 5p.m. Friday in Crawford County, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2019 Ford F650 U-haul driven by Allan R. Bates, 69, Lake Worth, Florida, was westbound on Interstate 44 at Route H.

The driver lost control of the vehicle due to defect, according to the MSHP. The U-haul struck a westbound 2015 Honda Odyssey driven by Mark A. Polsak, 45, High Ridge.

The U-haul continued  across the median and struck a 2018 Chevy Equinox driven by Frank L. Handley, 23, Janesville, Wisconsin, head-on.

The impact pushed the Equinox into an eastbound 2015 Ford Transit Van driven by Michael W. Semmens, Jr., 47, Genoa, Illinois.

Handley and passengers in the Chevy identified as Eve A. King, 22, Janesville, Wisconsin, and Ronald King, 19, Beloit, Wisconsin, were pronounced dead at the scene.

North Crawford County Ambulance transported Semmens, Jr. to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. There were no other injuries reported. Ronald King was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
