Georgia fugitive arrested in Maryville in 19-year-old cold case

A Georgia man has been arrested in Maryville in connection with a 19-year-old cold case.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation officials say 58-year-old Jon Worrell has been the prime suspect in the shooting death of his wife in 2006.

The Bureau reports Worrell, who had been living in Maryville, was taken into custody without incident.

Thirty-nine-year-old Doris Worrell was found shot and killed at Jon's Sports Park in Douglas, Georgia in September of 2006.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Nodaway County Sheriff's Office, and the Maryville Department of Public Safety assisted Georgia law enforcement in make the arrest.

Georgia officials say an extradition hearing will be held to return Worrell to Georgia.
