Missouri man dead, 2 hospitalized after rear-end crash

SHELBY COUNTY—A Missouri man died in an accident just before 7p.m. Friday in Shelby County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2001 Buick La Crosse driven by Jerry R. Fifer, 47, Shelbina, was eastbound on U.S. 36 one mile east of Lentner.

The car rear-ended a 2004 Ford Ranger driven by Charles E. Craig, 64, Clarence. After impact the pickup slid down an embankment. Craig and a passenger identified as 50-year-old Constance S. Romanetto of Clarence were ejected

Craig was pronounce dead at the scene and transported to Greening Egan Hayes funeral home.

EMS transported Romanetto to University Missouri Hospital and Fifer to Hannibal Regional Hospital. The occupants of the Jeep were not wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP.
