KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just after 1a.m. Friday in Kansas City.
According to Kansas City Police, an officer attempted to stop a reported stolen Ford F150 near Linwood and Van Brunt. The driver failed to stop. Due to safety concerns, officers ended the pursuit.
The driver of the pickup continued to speed north on Van Brunt Boulevard, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, traveled off the right side of the road and overturned..
The driver, who was unrestrained at the time and the only occupant of the pickup, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police have not released the name of the driver. This is the 18th fatality crash victim in Kansas City, Mo. in 2024, according to police.. The accident remains under investigation.
