
BUTLER COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a drug suspect on multiple allegations after a high-speed chase and crash.
On June 18, Sheriff’s Deputies assisted in locating a wrong-way driver who exited the Kansas Turnpike near El Dorado and led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit through Butler County, according to a media release.
During the pursuit, the suspect drove at speeds exceeding 110mph, traveled in oncoming traffic lanes, and disregarded multiple traffic control devices, creating a significant danger to the public.
The pursuit ended when the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed south of El Dorado on SE Highway 77. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.
Deputies recovered approximately 2.2 pounds of suspected methamphetamine from the vehicle, which was later identified as a recently stolen from Sedgwick County.
The suspect was transported for medical evaluation following the crash and faces multiple felony charges, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, felony fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and other related offenses.
