KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just after 1a.m. Saturday in Kansas City.
According to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a red Mercedes C590 was traveling eastbound on Blue Parkway at a high rate of speed. The driver failed to negotiate the curve of the roadway. The car traveled off the roadway to the right, continued down the steep embankment and struck a large tree in the ravine.
The driver and sole occupant of the Mercedes was pronounced deceased at the scene. This is fatality #57 compared to #54 at this time last year, according to Gonzalez.
