Heightened World Cup security means tighter rules for drone flights in parts of Missouri.
The FAA has placed temporary flight restrictions in the St. Louis area connected to World Cup events. The no fly zones began May twenty-ninth and run through July twenty-first, covering areas around team training sites, hotels, and other buildings.
Federal data also shows active restrictions in the Kansas City area starting June first and running into at least late July. Anyone operating a drone in those areas without approval could face federal charges, fines up to one hundred thousand dollars, and have their equipment taken away.
