WABAUNSEE COUNTY – A former correctional officer of the Wabaunsee County Jail was arrested Sunday following an investigation led by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, according to a media relase.

Jeffery Patrick, 48, was arrested Sunday at approximately 12:00 p.m. after he turned himself in to authorities at the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office. Patrick was arrested for one count of mistreatment of a confined person.

On May 28 of this year, the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office contacted the KBI for assistance with a correctional officer who was reportedly taking money from an inmate for personal use. The KBI conducted an investigation, leading to the arrest warrant being served by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.

The alleged incidents occurred between March and May at the Wabaunsee County Jail, where Patrick served as a correctional officer until he was terminated in June.

Following his arrest, Patrick was booked into the Pottawatomie County Jail.
