LINCOLN COUNTY—Four people died in an accident just before midnight Saturday in Lincoln County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Chevy Impala driven by a 16-year-old girl from Wright City, was southbound on MO 79 just south of Route C.
The car crossed the center of the road, overtook a vehicle and traveled into the path of a northbound 2022 Hyundai Elantra driven by Rachel G. Neldon, 23, Elsberry. The vehicles collided head-on.
The 16-year-old driver, a 15-year-0ld girl, a 16-year-old girl both of O'Fallon, passengers in the Chevy and Neldon were pronounced dead at the scene.
A fourth passenger in the Chevy, an 18-year-old Wright City boy, was airlifted to Mercy St. Louis. The MSHP had incomplete seat belt usage information.
