COOPER COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 8a.m. Tuesday in Cooper County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2020 Freightliner semi driven by Vernon L. Hawthorne, 43, Las Vegas, Nevada, was eastbound on Interstate 70 just east of the Route B-Booneville exit.
The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, returned to the road, slid and overturned and the driver was ejected.
Cooper County ambulance transported Hawthorne to Howard Funeral Home. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
