County IDs snow removal employee struck, killed by dump truck

KANSAS CITY —Authorities have identified the Jackson County employee who died in an accident just before 4:30p.m. Sunday as 61-year-old Everett Carter, according to Jackson County Executive Frank White.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2017 International dump truck driven by a 37-year-old Blue Springs man stopped on Ashland Avenue north of 20th Street to let a passenger later identified as Carter out of the vehicle.

The truck began to slide and struck Carter and a parked Honda CRV.

Carter, a resident of Independence, Missouri was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported the truck driver to Centerpoint Hospital.
