MCDONALD COUNTY —A Kansas man drowned just after 7:30p.m. Saturday in McDonald County, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 34-year-old Wakarusa man swam into the deep part of the Elk River, 460 feet downstream from the MO 59 bridge. The swimmer became exhausted, went under the water and did not resurface.
The McDonald County deputy coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. The patrol no longer releases names of drowning victims.
