(Radio Iowa) - Police say six people were shot in Des Moines over the weekend, and three of them have died, with two police officers among the wounded.
The shootings were part of two separate incidents. First, early Sunday morning, gunshots in the Court Avenue area of downtown led officers to three men, all of whom had been shot during an argument. A 29-year-old was dead at the scene, another man died at the hospital and the third was last reported in critical condition. Three guns were recovered. Early this (Monday) morning, a car sped away from officers who were trying to make a traffic stop.
The suspect's vehicle crashed about a block away, and when officers approached and tried to arrest the driver, they say he fired. Officers returned fire and killed the man. Both officers were wounded and ARE expected to survive.
