
SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement investigating a deadly shooting in Topeka have a wanted suspect in custody.
continue the search for the suspect in the death of 22-year-old Devin David-Lee Hoadley of Topeka, according to a statement from police.

Just after 1 p.m. April 13, police responded to an assault shooting call in the 200 block of SE 29th Street, according to a media release. First responders learned of a man later identified as 22-year-old Devin-Lee Hoadley who received a gunshot wound. American Medical Response transported him to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He later died.
The Topeka Police Department asked the public for help to locate a suspect in the shooting identified as 20-year-old Tayvian Smith. On Tuesday, police reported Smith was in custody. Just before 3p.m. Tuesday he was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of 2nd degree murder-intentional and aggravated battery.
