
KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just after 9p.m. Friday, police were patrolling the area of Independence Avenue and Monroe Avenue when they were flagged down by a person stating someone had been shot, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Officers immediately responded to an adult male victim who was located lying in a grassy area suffering from apparent gunshot trauma and unresponsive. Officers performed medical aid and attempted to life saving measures while waiting for EMS to arrive. EMS transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Preliminary information indicated an interaction occurred between several individuals that escalated into shots fired and the victim being struck. An adult male suspect was observed fleeing the area on foot.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. This incident is being investigated as a homicide. Police did not release the name of the victim.
