Four years ago, Congress created the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program to help bridge the digital divide and connect all Americans with reliable broadband, especially rural communities.
However, not a single BEAD project has been completed. On Tuesday, Kansas U.S. Senator Jerry Moran chaired an Appropriations Subcommittee hearing with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on the roadblocks to implementing the program and ensuring the funding for the program will be used according to congressional intent.
