(Radio Iowa) - A few hundred Iowans have been recognized at the Iowa State Fair today as the owners of farms that have been in the same family for at least 100 years.
Heritage Farms have been in the same family for 150 years and there's also a Century Farm designation. State Ag Secretary Mike Naig (NEGG, rhymes with "egg") handed out Century and Heritage Farm certificates to 439 families.
According to the state's registry, more than two-thousand Iowa farms have been owned by the same family for at least 150 years. There are over 21-thousand Century Farms in Iowa.
