
KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a weekend homicide in Kansas City, Missouri have identified the victim as 45-year-old James M Basham.
Just after 1p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a shooting at a residence in the 11000 block of N. McGee, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
A 911 caller said someone was shot inside a house there. On arrival officers were led inside a residence there where they located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive.
Officers called for EMS who responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene. Responding officers detained one adult subject of interest inside the residence for further investigation.
This case is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and one or more other subjects were inside the residence when they had an interaction that escalated to gunfire, which struck the victim. Detectives are not searching for any additional suspects at this time, according to Becchina.
