GREENE COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 9p.m. Wednesday in Greene County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Ford Fusion driven by Stephen W. Branstetter, 36, Mount Vernon, was westbound on Interstate 44 nine miles west of Springfield in slow moving traffic due to construction ahead.
The driver attempted to change lanes to pass a slow moving 2019 Freightliner semi and rear-ended the trailer. Branstetter was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver from Texas was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the MSHP.
