WILSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 1a.m. Monday in Wilson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2023 Ram ProMaster van driven by Bradley Plec, 32, Graniteville, South Carolina was westbound on U.S. 400 nine and one half miles north west of Fredonia. The van veered left of center into the eastbound lane and struck a 2025 Volvo semi driven by Sergiu Ionas, 50, Morton Grove, Illinois, head-on near the eastbound shoulder.
Plec was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported Ionas to the hospital in Fredonia. Plec was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
