NEWTON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 12:30p.m. Friday in Newton County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Toyota Sequoia driven by a 31-year-old Neosho man was westbound on Highway 86 just east of Neosho. The SUV traveled off the right side of the road and the driver overcorrected. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, rolled and struck a utility pole.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Clark Funeral Home. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
