JASPER COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 6:30p.m. Sunday in Jasper County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2001 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom driven by a 24-year-old Joplin man was westbound on MO 66 one mile west of Joplin. The motorcycle struck a northbound 2017 Lexus RX 350 driven by a 25-year-old Overland Park, Kansas woman was northbound on MO. 66 one mile west of Joplin. After impact, the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road, overturned and the driver was ejected.
He was transported to Cox South in Springfield where he was pronounced deceased on Monday. The SUV driver was not injured and properly restrained, according to the MSHP. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the patrol. The MSHP no longer releases names of accident victims.
