CHRISTIAN COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 7a.m. Friday in Christian County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek driven by a 61-year-old Republic man was westbound on U.S. 60 one mile west of Billings. The SUV struck a 2018 GMC Sierra driven by a 68-year-old Aurora, Missouri man head-on. The driver of the pickup was improperly backing into a driveway facing the wrong direction on the highway at the time of the crash.
EMS transported the Subaru driver to Cox South where he was pronounced deceased. EMS transported a 35-year-old passenger in the pickup to Mercy Springfield. The driver and one additional passenger of the pickup had minor injuries. The occupants of the pickup were not wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
