KANSAS CITY —Two people were injured in an accident during a police chase that occurred just before 3p.m. Wednesday in Kansas City
Preliminary investigation revealed that a police officer attempted to stop a maroon Dodge Avenger for a traffic violation in the area of 58th and Olive in Kansas City, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
The driver refused to stop and fled from the officer at a high rate of speed, traveling northbound on Olive. In front of 5430 Olive, the Dodge ran off the roadway to the left and struck a large tree before coming to rest.
The unrestrained driver of the Dodge was transported to a local hospital with what was originally believed to be life-threatening injuries. The unrestrained front seat passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police released no additional details.
