St. Joseph police are investigating a series of burglaries that targeted businesses downtown.

St. Joseph Police Department spokesman, Sergeant Richard McGregory, says a business owner contacted police late Sunday night after surveillance systems picked up a break-in. Police rushed to the downtown, but were too late to catch anyone.

Businesses that suffered loss were located in the 600 block of Felix and Edmund Streets. McGregory says it appears the first break-in occurred late Sunday night with the final one occurring in the early morning hours of Monday.

McGregory says the police department welcomes any input from the public that could help in the investigation.

“If they’ve seen anything, if any businesses around there have any video surveillance or anything that they can provide to us, we’re definitely open to utilize that,” McGregory tells reporters during a news briefing.
