After starting the season 0-2, the Kansas City Chiefs have bounced back with back-to-back wins and are back to .500 after beating the Baltimore Ravens 37-20.&nbsp;

The Chiefs had not started 0-2 since 2014.&nbsp; Cornerback Trent McDuffie says no matter the record, this team always brings the same energy&nbsp;

"Since I’ve been here the attitudes never changed, you know, whether we’re 0-2, whether we’re 2-2, whether we’re 2-0,” McDuffie tells reporters in the locker room after the game. &nbsp;“It’s always get back to work and it’s always that next week mentality, so we’re going to enjoy this win, but we’ve got another opponent next week.” &nbsp;

The Chiefs took advantage of a depleted Ravens defense and put up the most points they've scored in a game since just over two years ago, on September 24th, 2023. &nbsp;But it didn’t look like it would be that easy to start. &nbsp;

Following the opening kickoff, the Ravens used a nine-play drive, moving down the field efficiently to score a touchdown, with former MVP Lamar Jackson finding backup running back Justice Hill for an 11-yard passing touchdown. &nbsp;Kansas City answered with a nine-play drive of their own, but stalled inside the redzone, having to settle for a 38-yard field goal from Harrison Butker to go down 7-3. &nbsp;

Baltimore’s offense took over and again appeared to be driving down the field. &nbsp;An illegal formation set the Ravens back for a moment, but on a 17-yard pass from Jackson to Zay Flowers, safety Bryan Cook was charged with an unnecessary roughness penalty, that moved Baltimore to the Kansas City 32-yard line. &nbsp;On the ensuing pass from Jackson though, linebacker Leo Chenal made a miraculous one-handed interception to get the Chiefs the ball back. &nbsp;Kansas City ended up though with just three points off the turnover, having to settle for another field goal from Butker, this time from 23 yards out.&nbsp;

The Chiefs forced the Ravens to punt on the drive following the field goal and took a drive for the touchdown and the lead next, starting the drive with a big 35-yard run from Xavier Worthy, one drive after a big 37 yard catch down field from Patrick Mahomes. &nbsp;The drive needed just five plays and led&nbsp;to Mahomes first touchdown pass of the day, finding JuJu Smith-Schuster for his first touchdown of the season, a four-yard reception. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The Chiefs receiving corps was nearly back to full strength, with a healthy Worthy in the lineup who had over 120 all-purpose yards in his return. &nbsp;

Wide receiver Tyquan Thornton says the impact Worthy has on the offense shows&nbsp;

"You can see it out there man, we’re glad to have him back, he’s out there running fast, making plays left and right, great addition to this offense,” Thornton says.&nbsp;

Wide Receiver Hollywood Brown adds that Worthy adds a speed dynamic to the offense&nbsp;

"Speed kills you know, when everyone’s lined up in different spots it effects the defense so well and he’s a playmaker at all three levels of the field, so it’s good to have him back,” Brown adds.&nbsp;

A big stop on fourth down by the Chiefs defense put the ball back in Mahomes and the offenses hands late in the first half with just under three minutes left and Kansas City drove six plays this time for another passing touchdown, this time with Mahomes finding Isiah Pacheco for his first score of the year on an eight-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 20-7 with 1:41 left in the half.&nbsp;

Baltimore’s struggles continued as Jackson would be sacked on their next drive and would fumble, with the fumble being recovered by linebacker Drue Tranquill to give Kansas City the ball back. &nbsp;The Chiefs would not extend the lead though as Butker’s field goal attempt sailed wide left, giving the Ravens the ball back, and it would be Baltimore that would cut into the Chiefs lead to end the half on a 43-yard field goal by rookie kicker Tyler Loop to go to the halftime break down 20-10. &nbsp;

Getting the ball back to start the second half, Kansas City scored again to run away with the game even more, Mahomes third touchdown pass of the game, and his third touchdown pass in as many games to Thornton as he found the former New England Patriot for an 11-yard touchdown pass. &nbsp;Again, the Ravens answered on the ensuing offensive drive with a field goal, a sack by George Karlaftis on 3rd and 12 forcing Baltimore to send Loop out for a 32-yard field goal, which the rookie knocked through to cut the lead to 27-13.&nbsp;

A 10-play drive by the Chiefs following Loop’s field goal ended with a field goal of their own, using over six minutes of clock though, Butker converting a 31-yard kick. &nbsp;Again though, the Ravens offense was stopped on their next drive on fourth down for a turnover on downs, the drive now being led by Baltimore backup quarterback Cooper Rush after an injury to Jackson on the sack, and Kansas City scored the decisive touchdown as Mahomes found Brown for a 15 yard touchdown strike, Browns first touchdown reception in a Chiefs uniform, for a 37-13 lead. &nbsp;

Baltimore turned the ball over on downs on their next offensive drive, but the Chiefs just using up clock, ended up punting the ball back to the Ravens with 3:29 left in the game. &nbsp;Baltimore scored the final touchdown of the game in just three plays with Hill rushing down the sideline, with Chiefs backups on the field, for a 71-yard touchdown run. &nbsp;Kansas City got the ball back with 1:56 left in the game, and after a five-yard run by Brashard Smith, Gardner Minshew knelt out the remaining time.&nbsp;

After a slow start to the season, the Kansas City Chiefs put on one of their best performances in all three phases.&nbsp; &nbsp;Chenal says a performance like the one on Sunday from the team is both motivating and energizing&nbsp;

"When everything’s clicking, you know offense, special teams, defense, all those and guys are running off the field yelling, like all three phases yelling and getting each other going, it’s like nobody’s dead, everybody’s energized,” Chenal says. &nbsp;“So, it definitely does feel good, especially at home.”&nbsp;

Mahomes was 25-for-37 through the air for 270 yards with four touchdowns. &nbsp;Mahomes four touchdown passes in the game were the most he's thrown since 2023. &nbsp;Worthy had five catches for 83 yards in his return; he also added two rushes for 38 yards. &nbsp;Travis Kelce had five catches for 48 yards. &nbsp;Pacheco added seven rushes for 35 yards on the ground, while Kareem Hunt had 13 runs for 34 yards.&nbsp;

Kansas City next has a Monday Night Football matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 6th on the road. &nbsp;Kickoff will be at 7:15pm with pregame beginning at 6 on both KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM) and Q Country 92.7 (92.7FM).&nbsp;

Chiefs put on passing clinic against depleted Ravens in 37-20 win

 Mike Yastrzemski hit two solo home runs, Cole Ragans struck out eight in 4 1/3 innings and the Kansas City Royals defeated the Athletics 9-2 on Sunday afternoon to close out the regular season with a winning record, posting back to back winning seasons for the first time since 2014 and 2015.

Yastrzemski hit a homer deep to right in the seventh inning off Michael Kelly and homered to right off Osvaldo Bido in the eighth. Yastrzemski hit 17 homers, including nine with the Royals after he was traded from the Giants at the deadline.

Kansas City opened the scoring in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Maikel Garcia, driving in Carter Jensen.&nbsp; In the fourth inning, Michael Massey extended the Royals lead with an RBI single that scored Adam Frazier, thanks to a throwing error by the right fielder JJ Bleday, which allowed Massey to advance to third.&nbsp; Massey scored on a single from Garcia.

In the fifth inning, Massey drove in another run as the Royals continued their scoring barrage, an RBI single scoring Jensen.&nbsp; Then in the seventh inning, after Yastrzemski's first home run of the game, Jensen followed with a 482 foot home run to right field, the Royals longest home run of the Statcast era, before Kansas City scored two more runs on an RBI double from Bobby Witt Jr, with Massey and Garcia coming home.&nbsp;

With the two run double, the Kansas City shortstop led the majors in hits for the second straight year. He had 184 this season after collecting 211 in 2024.

Yastrzemski scored the Royals final run in the eighth with his second home run of the game.&nbsp; A's AL Rooke of the Year favorite Nick Kurtz hit an opposite-field two-run homer off lefty Sam Long in the eighth for the only A's runs. The Athletics’ first baseman leads all rookies in home runs (36), RBI (86), runs (90) and walks (63).

At the plate, Massey was 4-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.&nbsp; Jensen was 3-for-5 with a home run, an RBI, and three runs scored.&nbsp; Daniel Lynch earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of relief with three strikeouts.

Yaz homers twice as Royals rout A's to finish season with winning record

Seiya Suzuki homered in his fourth straight game, Javier Assad pitched shutout ball into the sixth inning and the playoff-bound Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2-0 Sunday aftrnoon at Wrigley Field for a three-game series sweep to close out the regular season.

Kyle Leahy opened for the Cardinals with three scoreless innings, allowing one hit. John King, who took took the loss falling to 2-1 on the season, was the second of four St. Louis relievers allowed one run while getting four outs.

Suzuki lined a solo homer off King to the left-center bleachers leading off the bottom of the fifth. The Cubs added an unearned run in the seventh when Moises Ballesteros singled and scored Kevin Alcantara from second.

Suzuki hit five homers and drove in 10 runs in his last four games. He raised his season totals to 32 homers and a team-leading 103 RBI.

The Cardinals did have an opportunity to tie up the game, but with&nbsp; Thomas Saggese on second in the ninth, Jordan Wicks struck out Jordan Walker and Jimmy Crooks to end the game.

At the plate, Saggese was 2-for-4.&nbsp; Victor Scott II was also 2-for-3 in the loss.&nbsp; The Cardinals, at 78-84, finished in fourth place in the NL Central and out of the playoffs for the third straight season.

The Cubs host the San Diego Padres in the best-of-three NL Wild Card series beginning Tuesday.

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats secured a decisive 38-16 victory over No. 15-ranked Central Oklahoma at Bearcat Stadium. 

The Bearcats executed a balanced attack with 409 total yards of offense, highlighted by a 68-yard touchdown pass from Chris Ruhnke to Jackson Miller that contributed to a 24-9 scoring surge in the second half. 

On their second possession of the game, Bearcats quarterback Chris Ruhnke executed a 54-yard touchdown run, concluding a 78-yard drive and securing an early lead. Central Oklahoma responded though with a 75-yard drive, culminating in a 13-yard touchdown run by Dev Matthews, to level the score, the first quarter ending with both teams tied at 7-7.

&nbsp;As the second quarter wound down, Northwest Missouri State struck with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Ruhnke to Nash, extending their lead with 48 seconds remaining on the clock in the first half. The scoring drive was set up by a 17-yard punt return by Dominic Myers. The half closed with the Bearcats ahead, 14-7.

Northwest Missouri State opened the third quarter with a scoring drive, covering 75 yards. Ruhnke connected with Nash on a 24-yard pass to set the tone, and Te'Shaun Porter capped the drive with a one yard touchdown rush to extend the lead. The Bearcats defensive unit then held firm, allowing only a 32-yard field goal from Joseph Kim to Central Oklahoma, maintaining a significant advantage. 

Later in the quarter, Northwest Missouri State's offense continued its efficiency, embarking on another 75-yard march. Quincy Torry's four yard rush into the end zone increased the lead further, with Mo Alwaely's successful extra point making it 28-10.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The fourth quarter began with a defensive stand by Northwest Missouri State, as Cooper Berry and Nile Schuett combined for a tackle for loss on a 4th-and-2 attempt by Central Oklahoma, resulting in a turnover on downs. The Bearcats capitalized swiftly, with Ruhnke connecting with Jackson Miller for a 68-yard touchdown pass, extending their lead.&nbsp;

Central Oklahoma responded with a touchdown drive, capped by William Mason's 11-yard rush, but they failed to convert on the subsequent two-point attempt. Northwest Missouri State's next possession saw them drive into field goal range, where Alwaely successfully kicked a 40-yard field goal for the final score of the game.

Ruhnke completed 9-of-17 passes for 194 yards and threw two touchdowns while also rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Nash led the receiving corps with five receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Porter carried the ball 14 times for 42 yards, finding the end zone once.&nbsp;

Next up, after a week off, Northwest&nbsp; (4-1, 3-0 MIAA) hits the road to travel to Central Missouri to continue MIAA play on October 11th.&nbsp; Kickoff will be at 1pm.

<b>Missouri gets dominant homecoming win, Pribula has record setting day</b>

 Beau Pribula completed a Missouri-record 21 straight passes, Ahmad Hardy ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns and #20 Missouri beat UMass 42-6 at Faurot Field to continue their undefeated start to the season.

Hardy sparked the Tigers’ opening drive, gaining 41 yards on four carries before limping off the field after a tackle. While Hardy headed to the medical tent, Jamal Roberts finished off the drive with a nine yard touchdown run.&nbsp; UMass capitalized on a mistake by Pribula when linebacker Timmy Hinspeter returned an interception 63 yards to the 21. Six plays later, AJ Hairston threw a two yard scoring pass to Max Dowling, but Mizzou defensive tackle Sterling Webb blocked the extra point to keep it 7-6.

After that, it was all Tigers.&nbsp; Hardy had rushing touchdowns of five yards and one yard in the first half to send Mizzou to the halftime break with a 21-6 lead.&nbsp; After halftime, Hardy added a 16 yard rushing touchdown, Pribula threw a nine yard touchdown pass to Brett Norfleet, and Tavorus Jones capped the scoring early in the fourth quarter with a three yard rushing touchdown.

Pribula played virtually flawless after the interception, completing 21 consecutive passes to break the school record of 20 set by Chase Daniel in 2008. Pribula finished 26 of 29 for 241 yards and a touchdown.&nbsp; Kevin Coleman Jr. led the Tigers in receiving with 12 catches for 108 yards.

Hardy entered the weekend as the No. 2 rusher in FBS. It was his seventh consecutive 100-yard rushing game. The Tigers rushed for 268 yards, with Roberts chipping in 52 yards and backup Marquise Davis adding 77 yards, all in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers’ pass defense bounced back after allowing 302 yards passing last week to South Carolina, allowing just 105 yards through the air to UMass.&nbsp; Missouri’s run defense allowed only 19 yards on the ground a week after holding South Carolina to -9 yards rushing.

Up next, Missouri (5-0, 1-0 SEC) will have a bye wek this week.&nbsp; The Tigers will host #17 Alabama on October 11th.&nbsp; Kickoff is scheduled for 11am

<b>Strong start, but late scores lead to narrow defeat for MoWest on road</b>

The Missouri Western State University Griffons dropped a hard-fought battle on the road, falling 31-23 on the road at Fort Hays State at Lewis Field Stadium.

Fort Hays State opened the scoring in the first quarter when quarterback Caleb Heavner connected with Joshua Clark for a 17-yard touchdown pass.&nbsp; But,&nbsp;MoWest responded with a 12-play, 75-yard drive capped by Spencer Sprenger's 24-yard field goal, trimming the deficit to 7-3 with 3:58 left.&nbsp; The Griffons struck again late in the first quarter. After a Hays fumble was recovered by Drew Scott at the Tigers' 26-yard line, Kane Donovan hit Damir Abdullah on a four-yard touchdown pass with 18 seconds remaining in the quarter, and Sprenger's point after gave the Griffons the lead at the end of the quarter.

Hays took the lead back to open the second quarter with a six-yard touchdown run by Curtis Douglas.&nbsp; Late in the quarter, the Griffons responded with a 26-yard field goal from Sprenger to cut the deficit to one point with 1:07 left until halftime.&nbsp; The game swung in MoWest's favor when Heavner was picked off by TreVon Holmes, giving the Griffons a first down at their own 40 yard line with 32 seconds left.&nbsp; Standing at the Hays 44-yard line with three seconds on the clock, Donovan connected with Malik Moore on a 44-yard Hail Mary as time expired, lifting MoWest to a 20-14 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, after the Griffons turned it over on downs on the opening series of the second half, Hays cut into the deficit with a 41-yard field goal by David Arriaga at the 4:24 mark of the third quarter, narrowing the Griffon lead to three to start the fourth.&nbsp; In the final quarter, MoWest scored its only points of the half on a 35-yard field goal by Sprenger to extend the lead to 23-17 with 14:43 to play.

Hays quickly answered, however, with a 38-yard touchdown pass from Heavner to Tariq Logan to take the lead back at 24-23.&nbsp; After that,&nbsp;MoWest struggled to find offensive momentum after falling behind punting the ball away on two straight drives, and the Tigers took advantage, as Curtis Douglas broke free on a 59-yard rushing touchdown, putting Fort Hays up 31-23 with 2:40 remaining.

MoWest had one last chance to tie it. Driving all the way to the Hays' 11-yard line with 11 seconds left, Donovan's pass intended for Moore fell incomplete on fourth down in the end zone, allowing Hays to take over on downs with just three seconds left.

Donovan completed a career-best 30 passes on 45 attempts for a career-high 314 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.&nbsp; Moore led the way receiving wise with four catches for 75 yards and a touchdown, while Damir Abdullah added five receptions for 53 yards and a score.&nbsp; Brandon Hall had 16 carries for 57 rushing yards. .

Missouri Western (1-3, 0-2 MIAA) is back home on Saturday to face Emporia State. Kickoff in that game is set for 6 p.m.&nbsp; It will be MoWest's annual Homecoming game and part of a weekend-long celebration, honoring 50 years of women's athletics at Missouri Western State University.

<b>#3 Benedictine dominates Peru State on Family Weekend in Atchison</b>

The Benedictine Ravens put together another big win at Larry Wilcox Stadium.&nbsp; The #3 Ravens defeated the Peru State College Bobcats, 70-30.

The Ravens found themselves in a hole early in the game after the Bobcats put the first 10 points on the board thanks to a 23 yard field goal from Parker Cushing and a two yard touchdown pass from CJ Dixon to Bryant Thomas. However, the Ravens had a big answer.

Jackson Dooley connected with Titan Osburn for a 53-yard yard touchdown for the Ravens first points late in the opening quarter.&nbsp; Then, early in the second quarter, Xavier Ugorji capped off a Ravens drive with a touchdown plunge to put the Ravens in front, 14-10. After a Bobcats turnover, the Ravens reached into their bag of tricks and hit the Bobcats with a 40-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead even more as Dooley found Joseph Lagafuaina for a 40-yard score on a flea-flicker.

The Bobcats responded with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Dixon to Daylan Jones to trim the Ravens lead to 21-16, but it was the home team scoring the final 21 points of the half to take a 42-16 lead into the halftime break as long rushes by JJ Jackson and Xiomar Hernandez set up Ugorji's second rushing touchdown of the first half, then Dooley finished another Ravens drive with a quarterback sneak touchdown. After the Ravens got the ball back with just 1:04 to play, they quickly drove down the field and Dooley passed to Osburn for his second touchdown of the half with 14 seconds left on the clock.

The Bobcats opened the scoring in the second half with an 11 yard touchdown pass as for a second time Dixon connected with Thomas.&nbsp; But, the Ravens continued hitting big plays in the second half as Dooley had a 79-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Zimmerman to extend the lead again.&nbsp;Jackson and Hernandez both had touchdown runs in the third quarter as well, of one and two yards respectively, to give Benedictine a 63-23 lead going into the final quarter.

 In the fourth quarter, Dixon rushed for a two yard touchdown for the final points for the Bobcats, before Robbie Sharp scored on a three yard touchdown run putting the final points on the board in a 40-point Ravens win.

The Ravens had six rushing touchdowns on the day as they put up 243 yards. Ugorji led the team with 86 yards and Jackson ran for 70.&nbsp; Dooley passed for 359 yards and had four touchdown tosses. Zimmerman hauled in five catches for 134 yards and Osburn had&nbsp; three catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

The Ravens (4-1) will hit the road for their next contest on Saturday at Missouri Baptist.&nbsp; Kickoff will be at 1 p.m.

<b>Kansas State snaps two game skid, gets first Big 12 win over UCF</b>

 Avery Johnson threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns, Dylan Edwards ran for 166 yards and another score, and Kansas State held on to beat UCF 34-20 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, snapping a two game losing skid, and earning its first Big 12 win of the season.

Johnson also ran for 75 yards, and the Wildcats&nbsp; piled up 268 yards on the ground, while their defense made a critical fourth-down stop with just over four minutes left after the Knights had closed to within 31-20.

Kansas State opened the scoring in the game after a scoreless first quarter with a field goal, Luis Rodriguez knocking through a 38 yard field goal.&nbsp; The Knights were rolling off a 34-9 rout of North Carolina, but Kansas State must have had plenty of time to scout them during their bye. The Wildcats shut down the UCF offense even before Tayven Jackson got hurt with 10:48 left in the first half.

Jacurri Brown entered the game and immediately threw an interception, leading to Joe Jackson's touchdown run for Kansas State, and a 10-0 lead.&nbsp; UCF finally got a big play moments later, when Brown hit DJ Black down the sideline. Kansas State's Wesley Fair missed a tackle, and the resulting 82-yard touchdown rception was the longest by a Knights player since Doug Gabriel's 83-yarder in 2001.

But the Wildcats answered with a 73-yard touchdown march, and Will Anciaux's catch from Johnson with 45 seconds remaining gave them a 17-7 lead at the halftime break.

Not much changed after halftime. Brown and the Knights went three-and-out to start the third quarter, and Kansas State added to the lead with another long touchdown drive, Garrett Oakley catching a one yard touchdown pass from Johnson. And when Jackson's surprising return sparked the UCF offense, Brown came in to run a sneak on fourth down, and the backup quarterback promptly fumbled the ball away.

The Wildcats did have to punt on the drive following the fumble, and UCF got a 53 yard field goal from Noe Ruelas on the ensuing drive.&nbsp; But,&nbsp;Edwards added a 75-yard touchdown run later in the third quarter, helping to put the game out of UCF's reach extending the lead to 31-10.

The Knights did add a touchdown with 20 seconds remaining in the third quarter on a 54 yard touchdown run from Jaden Nixon.&nbsp; In the fourth quarter though, it was just field goals knocked through by both teams, a 40 yard field goal from Ruelas and a 48 yard field goal by Rodriguez.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On top of Johnson and Edwards, Jaron Tibbs led the team in receiving with eight catches for 72 yards.&nbsp; Kansas State has never lost to UCF in three meetings.

Up next, Kansas State (2-3, 1-1 Big 12) heads to Baylor on Saturday.&nbsp; Kickoff will be at 11am and the game will air on ESPN+

<b>Late score gives Cincinnati victory over Kansas at the Booth</b>

 Tawee Walker scored on a two yard touchdown run with 29 seconds left to help lift Cincinnati to a 37-34 victory over Kansas at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

Kansas struck quickly on a 93-yard touchdown pass from Jalon Daniels to Emmanuel Henderson on the Jayhawks' first play from scrimmage. Cincinnati responded with a methodical 13-play, 75-yard drive, capped by a&nbsp; two yard touchdown run by Walker. The Bearcats attempted and succeeded on two fourth-down conversions on the drive.

In the second quarter, with the game tied at seven, the teams exchanged field goals, with Stephen Rusnak knocking through a 29 yard field goal for Cincinnati and Laith Marjan hitting a 27 yard field goal for the Jayhawks.&nbsp; Tied at 10, the Bearcats took the lead on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Brendan Sorsby to Cyrus Allen.&nbsp; Late in the quarter the teams exchanged field goals again as Marjan hit a 35 yard field goal, and Rusnak nailed a 43 yard field goal with no time remaining to give the Bearcats a 20-13 lead at halftime.&nbsp;

Kansas took the opening drive of the second half and marched 75 yards for the tying score. Daniels found Boden Groen on a 24-yard, wide-open touchdown pass. But Cincinnati answered with a 14-yard Sorsby to Allen touchdown to retake the lead.

Daniels found&nbsp; Henderson for a 75-yard touchdown to tie the game at 27-all. Cincinnati had first-and-goal inside the one yard line but had to settle for a 24-yard&nbsp; Rusnak field goal to take a 30-27 lead into the final quarter of action.

Daniels put Kansas&nbsp; ahead 34-30 with a late score, with 1:45 left on the clock when he found Levi Wentz for a six yard touchdown. But there was too much time for Sorsby and the Bearcats.&nbsp; Cincinnati drove 75 yards in 1:16 for the game-winning score.

Daniels threw for four touchdowns and 445 yards.&nbsp; LeShon Williams rushed 10 times for 64 yards, while Daniels added 14 rushes for 55 yards.&nbsp; Henderson had five catches for 214 yards and two touchdowns

Next, Kansas (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) travels to UCF on Saturday.&nbsp; Kickoff is at 6:30pm and the game will air on ESPN2.

CFB: Cats dominates Top 25 matchup, Ravens blowout Peru State, Tigers win homecoming

Mike Yastrzemski scored the opening run of the game on a throwing error by&nbsp;Shea Langeliers in the first inning.&nbsp; In the fifth inning the Royals extended the lead with Michael Massey singling to lead off the inning and advancing to third on Yastrzemki’s one-out single. After Bobby Witt Jr. flied out, Vinnie Pasquantino blooped a double to left field that fell between A’s shortstop Jacob Wilson and sliding left fielder Tyler Soderstrom as two runs scored.

With John Schreiber on the mound in the seventh inning, the A's got onto the scoreboard to cut into the Kansas City lead as Carlos Cortes doubled to drive in Darrel Hernaiz.&nbsp; Then in the eighth inning, Langeliers doubled off Angel Zerpa to score AL Rookie of the Year favorite Nick Kurtz for the A's final run.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kansas City added their final run in the ninth inning, an RBI single from Witt Jr driving in Tyler Tolbert.&nbsp; In the bottom half of the inning, Carlos Estévez worked the ninth for his major league-leading 42nd save.

At the plate, Yastrzemski was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring two runs.&nbsp; Witt Jr was 2-for-5 with an RBI.&nbsp; Pasquantino was 1-for-5 with a double and two RBIs

High School Football Schedule for Sept. 25th

 Vinnie Pasquantino homered and drove in three runs, Bobby Witt Jr. had four hits and the Kansas City Royals beat the Los Angeles Angels 9-4 on Thursday night at Angels Stadium to move Kansas City one game back above .500 in the quest for another winning season.

Pasquantino’s team-leading 32nd homer, a two-run shot to right field in the first, gave him a team-high 110 RBI on the season. Jo Adell cut the lead in half, pulling the Angels to 2-1 in the second with his team-high 37th homer.

Pasquantino added a run-scoring fielder’s choice in the third inning, driving in Maikel Garcia.&nbsp; Then in the fifth inning, Witt Jr. had an RBI double that scored Michael Massey to push the Kansas City lead to 4-1.&nbsp; In the sixth inning the Angels cut the lead in half again on a solo home run by&nbsp; Nolan Schanuel.

After Schanuel’s solo shot&nbsp; brought the Angels back within two, Adam Frazier’s pinch-hit RBI single in the eighth inning drove in Witt. Jr. to make the score 5-2.&nbsp; Los Angles though cut the lead to one run in the bottom half of the eighth on their third home run of the game, a two run shot from&nbsp;Mike Trout his 23rd of the season and 401st of his career that brought home Luis Rengifo.

However, the Royals scored four in the top of the ninth, a rally highlighted by Salvador Perez’s two-out, three-run double off Angels reliever Sam Bachman, that scored Pasquantino, Tyler Tolbert, and Witt Jr to pull away in the inning.&nbsp; Kansas City added a final run with Perez scoring on a single by Mike Yastrzemski.

Michael Lorenzen earned the win, improving to 7-11, giving up two earned runs and five hits with a season-high nine strikeouts and no walks in 5 2/3 innings for the Royals.&nbsp; At the plate, Witt Jr was 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI.&nbsp; Pasquantino was 1-for-4 with a walk and the home run, driving in three runs.

Kansas City begins their final weekend series of the season next against the Athletics.&nbsp; Noah Cameron (9-7, 2.90 ERA) takes the mound for the Royals against Luis Morales (4-2, 3.07) for the Athletics on Friday.&nbsp; First pitch is at 9:05pm, pregame airing at 8:30 on KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM).

Royals back over .500 with 9-4 win over Angels in series finale

Runners hit the streets this weekend for the third annual St. Joseph Marathon.  

Several hundreds have already registered to take on the course along the St. Joseph parkway system on Saturday, beginning at 7am with the full and half marathons.  

St. Joseph Sports Commission Director Brett Esely says there are some runners looking to run a unique event in each state, and study the courses  

"And I think if you’re a runner at all, and you study this course here in St. Joe, the one thing that you’ll note is this is a challenging course, meaning it is not flat,” Esely says on the KFEQmunnity show.  “And I think people look at me like yeah St. Joseph is not flat, and this course certainly is not, but you have runners that are looking for that too.” 

 Esely says the route encompasses landmarks of the city, including the nation’s first recognized parkway system 

"It’s historic, it’s beautiful, ironically enough from start to finish, and you could never drive it this way just because of how it lays out, but that parkway system is actually 26 miles,” Esely explains.  “But, from a start finish line standpoint it’s not that easy to create that, but our race route encompasses roughly about 18 unique miles of that parkway system.” 

Esely says the race both starts and finishes at Civic Center Park, behind City Hall with the route working its way onto the parkway.  

 Esely says if you aren't running, and you aren't volunteering, there is another way you can participate if you live along the race route 

"Come outside in your front yard, make some signs, cheer, play some music, you know it’s a Saturday morning so for a lot of people that’s a laid-back time,” Esely says.  “And think about it, how often do you have runners running on streets formally run by your house?  Probably not very often, only one time of year here, and we really have had a lot of people that embrace that.” 

The marathon features a full and half marathon, as well as a 5k and a 10k.  The full and half marathon begins at 7am with the others starting at 7:30.  

Registration for the marathon is open through tomorrow (Fri.) evening.  There is no race day registration.

On your mark, get set, go!  St. Joseph Marathon is this weekend

Former Cardinal Andrew Knizner hit an RBI triple in the eighth inning, and the San Francisco Giants beat St. Louis 4-3 on Wednesday night at Oracle Park to eliminate the Cardinals from playoff contention.

One day after the Cardinals ended the Giants’ postseason hopes with a late comeback, manager Bob Melvin’s club returned the favor with a late rally of its own.

Jung Ho Lee doubled to center opening the scoring for the Giants in the second inning off Cardinals starter Sonny Gray, driving in Casey Schmitt who scored on a fielding error by Victor Scott II.&nbsp; St. Louis though took the lead in the third with two runs, Brendan Donovan hitting an RBI double, one day after a game where he had four doubles, to drive in Scott II.&nbsp; Donovan later scored on an RBI single from&nbsp;Iván Herrera.

In the bottom of the third inning, Rafael Devers hit his 34th home run of the season to tie the game up for San Francisco.&nbsp; In the bottom of the fourth inning the Giants broke the tie on a sacrifice fly by Knizner, scoring Christian Koss.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Giants led 3-2 until Nolan Arenado tied it with a sacrifice fly, driving in Herrera in the eighth inning.

Koss then led off the bottom of the eighth with a soft single over the outstretched glove of Arenado at first base. Cardinals eliminated from playoff contention with 4-3 loss to Giants

 Taylor Ward homered, Kenley Jansen earned his 475th career save and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Kansas City Royals 3-2 on Wednesday night at Angel Stadium to avoid a series sweep, setting up a rubber match in Thursday's series finale.

Luis Rengifo doubled and scored on Oswald Peraza's groundout in the second inning for a 1-0 lead. Ward added a 320-foot solo home run in the third to became one of just three MLB players this season with at least 35 homers, 100 RBI and 30 doubles.

In the fourth, Kolek tried to cut down Peraza at second, but his throw sailed wide of second baseman Jonathan India, allowing Peraza to score for a 3-0 lead.</p><p>Yusei Kikuchi gave up just one hit while striking out six over five innings. He was removed with a left forearm cramp before the sixth. Jansen struck out two in the ninth for his 28th save of the season.</p><p>Randal Grichuk's homer in the fifth was the only hit given up Kikuchi. In the seventh inning, Carter Jensen drove in Mike Yastrzemski with an RBI single to bring the Royals within a run of Los Angeles.</p><p>At the plate the Royals had just two hits in the game, with Grichuk going 1-for-2 with the home run.&nbsp; Jensen was 1-for-1 with the RBI after pinch hitting for Luke Maile in the seventh inning.&nbsp; Adam Frazier and Jac Caglianone did draw walks to be the only other baserunners for Kansas City&nbsp;</p><p>Kansas City and Los Angeles wrap up their series on Thursday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Michael Lorenzen (6-11, 4.70) gets the start for the Royals against&nbsp;Mitch Farris (1-2, 6.52 ERA) taking the mound for the Angels.&nbsp; First pitch is at 8:38pm, pregame coverage begins at 8 on KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM).</p><p><i>You can follow Matt on X @KfeqMatt.</i></p>
