Patsy Ruth (Webb) Shepherd, 83 of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away surrounded by family at her home on July 14, 2020. 

She was born on February 25, 1937, in St. Joseph, MO, daughter to Irene Belle (Swope) Webb. She attended Kirschner School and Benton High School, and was a lifelong member of Kirschner Community Church until it closed its doors.

Pat dedicated her entire life to the Lord, her family, and the farm that she lived on. She treasured all of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids with all of her heart. Pat also knew no strangers. If you were a friend of the family, you were a friend to her. Many have enjoyed the amazing spread of food she would put on the table, or the cakes and pies she would bake. Pat had a heart of giving and food was the medicine she gave everyone. If you showed up to her house, she would invite you in and one of the first things she might have said to you was "come on here and get something to eat." If you had a loss in your family, she was the first one to arrive with meals to comfort you. If you had a birthday, she would bake you a cake, a pie or whip up your favorite dessert to enjoy. Many also have enjoyed the bowls of popcorn, the annual sweet corn, and other comfort foods. One thing was for certain, at Pat's house, you would never leave hungry.

In addition to cooking and baking, Pat loved crafts and sewing throughout her years. Many of her family have worn dresses that she sewed for them for Easter, weddings, formals and other occasions. She shared this passion with many 4-H members throughout the years teaching them how to bake Cinnamon Rolls or sew an outfit to garner the Blue Ribbon at the County and State Contests. In her late years, she did not sit at the sewing machine as much and instead enjoyed making beautiful Christmas stockings for any child she knew or baby to be born. Her love for embroidery can also be seen in the hundreds of pillow cases and kitchen towels she has stitched over the years.

Music was also a joy to Pat as she said could get lost in the music. To her, music was where she could find the answers to things, or simply be in her own world. Throughout her life, she shared this love of music with her family, church friends and others. Many will never forget hearing her sing hymns with her crystal-clear high soprano voice or listen to her play the organ or piano in church.

Pat was a woman of faith. Being raised in the Christian faith, she had a strong affection for Jesus. She said our Heavenly Father helped her over many hurdles in her life and has carried her many a mile. In the end, she would always say "leave it in God's hands, He knows best." Today, we know she is rejoicing with the Lord in Heaven and her soul is full of the joys of everlasting life.

Pat is survived by daughters Deborah Ann McCamy (Donald), Charla Gayle Ewart (Rodney), Nancy Susan Healey (William); son Douglas Allan Shepherd (Cherie); Granddaughters Angela Dawn McCamy, Erin Denece Duin (Joseph), Kristen Michelle Tedder (Charles), Lyndsey Brooke Ewart and Grandson Daniel Ray McCamy (Megan). She is also survived by nine Great Grandchildren. Other survivors include her nephew Tommy Lee Cutter who was like a brother to her, half-brothers Roger Ebling (Cheryl) and Larry Ebling (Barbara); half-sister Beverly Freeman (Larry), brother-in-law Donald Shepherd (LaDonna); many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by parents Irene Belle (Swope) Webb and George Ebling, husband Robert Lee Shepherd Jr., son Darrell Shepherd, grand daughter Abigail Shepherd, great-granddaughter Whitney Ann Duin, and sister Lois (Webb) Hubbard.

The family will welcome friends to Visitation from 5pm to 8pm Friday evening at Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and livestream Services are 10am Saturday at Rupp Funeral Home with the internment immediately following at King Hill Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. Pat was the Secretary and Treasurer for the King Hill Cemetery Association for 34 years. In-lieu-of flowers, the family requests donations to the King Hill Cemetery Association.

J.B. Philpot, 84, of Faucett, MO, died July 15, 2020.&nbsp; J.B. was born March 5, 1936, in Barbourville, Kentucky,&nbsp; to Ples Jackson and Mary Ethel (Parker) Philpot.&nbsp;

Prior to retirement he was an iron worker for a number of years at Concorp.

Survivors include his daughters, Laura Edwards (Larry), Mary Tollenaar (David) Amy Ratcliff (Michael) Nancy Tewell (Joe); six grandchildren, Abigail Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Evan Tollenaar, Katherine Tollenaar, Avery Tewell, Merrick Ratcliff; five great-grandchildren; &nbsp;sister Lucinda Worley; other relatives and friends.

J.B. was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Buelah Milsap; and two brothers Arville and Ludlow Philpot.

He was a member of the Ironworkers Union , loved working on cars, watching western movies, &nbsp;and spending time with his family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.

Patricia L. Lang, 89, of Cheyenne, WY, formerly of Robinson, KS, passed away on July 3, 2020.&nbsp; She was born on March 26, 1931, in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp;

Pat received her master’s degree in teaching from the University of Wyoming and taught elementary education at Fairview Elementary School in Cheyenne for thirty-one years.&nbsp; She retired in 2005.&nbsp; She enjoyed gardening, traveling and playing the piano.

She is survived by her sons John and David (Karen) of Cheyenne, and Jim (Julie) of Sherwood, Oregon; and grandchildren Robert, Molly, Sarah, Crystal and Luke.

&nbsp; Pat was preceded in death by her brother David, parents Ethel and Willis McCauley and husband, John.

Betty Jean (Barnes) Swartz was taken from this earth to be with our Lord on Monday, July 13, 2020, just three days after her 91st birthday at Carriage Square Rehabilitation and Care Center in St. Joseph. 

She was born at home in Savannah, MO on July 10, 1929 to Claude and Lorene Barnes. Betty graduated from Savannah High School and then married Lloyd Swartz on August 30, 1947. She was a member of the former King Hill Methodist Church.

Betty spent much of her life taking care of family as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. In addition she served others by working at many retail stores in St. Joseph including the Little Mr. and Miss Shoppe, The Paris and most recently Montgomery Wards, where she retired. As a loving mother and grandmother, she really enjoyed cooking large meals and hosting family get-together's and parties. Christmas was a very special time for Betty because she knew that she would be surrounded by family. Betty loved to shop, seasonally decorate her home and go out to eat meals. She also loved attending family baseball games and always cheered on the Royals and the Chiefs. Her family stories were shared with all of those who cared for her throughout the years as she loved to visit with everyone.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lorene Barnes, her loving husband, Lloyd Swartz, her daughter, Linda Miller and great-grandson Dylan Hill. Betty is survived by her two sisters, Connie Miller of St. Joseph and Judy Miller of Savannah. Remaining family members are daughters, Kathy West of St. Joseph and Marilyn (Cliff) Herr of Stillwater, OK and son, Brad (Tammy) Swartz of St. Joseph. Other surviving relatives include grandchildren Mark Miller, Heath Miller, Chip Holman, Heather Yates, Nathan Herr, Logan Herr, Jeremy Hill, Tyler Swartz and Kyle Swartz. Betty’s great grandchildren include: Aaron, Maddie, Kaleb, Derek, Brett, Kristina, Jillian, Elle, Emma, and Autumn. And her great great grandchildren are Presleigh, Portlynn and Paityn.

Peggy Jean (Burton) Tolbert, 91, of St. Joseph, MO, died July 14, 2020.&nbsp; Peggy was born August 2, 1928, in Kansas to Earl and Ella (George) Burton.

She was Manager of the Missouri Unemployment Office in St. Joseph for many years.&nbsp; Peggy was a very active member of &nbsp;Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church, American Legion Auxillary, Rotary Club, and Order of the Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband Richard Sawyer Tolbert.

Survivors include her daughter Sherrilyn "Sherry" Miller; &nbsp;step-daughter Jeanette Ashford; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Peggy loved all animals.&nbsp; She was a cancer survivor twice and would drive cancer patients to their appointments.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 19th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; Services will be Monday, July 20th at 10:30 a.m. at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church, with interment following in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Peggy Jean Tolbert  1928 - 2020

Kay Jeanne (McIntire) Simpson, 87, passed away July 13, 2020 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Kay Jeanne was born at home in Oregon, MO on June 20, 1933, the oldest of four children of Harry Lyons and Violet Marie (Holstine) McIntire.

Kay graduated both from Stephens College with a degree in fashion design, and also the University of Missouri, Columbia, graduating with a Home Economics degree. Kay was a Danforth Scholar and a proud member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. After college she received a prestigious internship from Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. While attending the University of Missouri, she met Robert (Bob) L. Simpson, and they were married in Oregon, MO on August 25, 1956. They raised their four children in St. Joseph, MO.

After living in Coronado, CA, Whidbey Island, WA, and Pensacola, FL, Kay and Bob settled in St. Joseph, MO in 1959. Kay was a supportive spouse, engaging in various civic campaigns and causes that Bob was passionate about.

In addition to being a supportive spouse and raising her children, Kay’s first career was as a registered dietitian. She gave dietary guidance to state schools and private nursing homes in Missouri and Kansas. After leaving dietetics Kay embarked on a second career with Mary Kay Cosmetics and achieved Directorship. She served her customers and team members for many years until her retirement. She was also active in the Junior League, Dow “Joans” Investment Club, St. Joseph Ladies Golf and was a Girl Scout Leader. She served on the board of the YMCA and was a member of PEO Chapter BJ. She was a long-time member and a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. She loved people, flowers, birds, fabrics, fashion, photography, music, theater, a good party and was a gourmet cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tom McIntire; sister, Marilyn Schulte; brother, Mason McIntire and niece, Melinda Nedbalek.

Kay is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob of their St. Joseph home; daughter Susan Kay (Mike) Kelly, Keene, New Hampshire, son G. Scott Simpson, Jackson, Mississippi, daughter Stacey Ann (Tim) Hill , Weston, Missouri, and Merry Ellen Turner, Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren; sister-in-law Ann McIntire, Overland Park, Kansas; brother-in-law, William Schulte, Verona Pennsylvania; sister-in-law Judy McIntire, Mound City, Missouri; and nieces, nephews and a community of loyal friends.

Kay Jeanne (McIntire) Simpson, 87, passed away July 13, 2020 in St. Joseph, Missouri.Kay Jeanne was born at home in Oregon, MO on June 20, 1933, the oldest of four children of Harry Lyons and Violet Marie (Holstine) McIntire.Kay graduated both from Stephens College with a degree in fashion design, and also the University of Missouri, Columbia, graduating with a Home Economics degree. Kay was a Danforth Scholar and a proud member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. After college she received a prestigious internship from Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. While attending the University of Missouri, she met Robert (Bob) L. Simpson, and they were married in Oregon, MO on August 25, 1956. They raised their four children in St. Joseph, MO.After living in Coronado, CA, Whidbey Island, WA, and Pensacola, FL, Kay and Bob settled in St. Joseph, MO in 1959. Kay was a supportive spouse, engaging in various civic campaigns and causes that Bob was passionate about.In addition to being a supportive spouse and raising her children, Kay’s first career was as a registered dietitian. She gave dietary guidance to state schools and private nursing homes in Missouri and Kansas. After leaving dietetics Kay embarked on a second career with Mary Kay Cosmetics and achieved Directorship. She served her customers and team members for many years until her retirement. She was also active in the Junior League, Dow “Joans” Investment Club, St. Joseph Ladies Golf and was a Girl Scout Leader. She served on the board of the YMCA and was a member of PEO Chapter BJ. She was a long-time member and a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. She loved people, flowers, birds, fabrics, fashion, photography, music, theater, a good party and was a gourmet cook.She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tom McIntire; sister, Marilyn Schulte; brother, Mason McIntire and niece, Melinda Nedbalek.Kay is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob of their St. Joseph home; daughter Susan Kay (Mike) Kelly, Keene, New Hampshire, son G. He was born January 31, 1997 in Fallon, Nevada to Michael and Reneé (Rule) Green.

Riley most recently attended Word of Life Church and was graduated from Central High School, Class of 2016.

Riley had the almost magical ability to connect with people anywhere he went. He had friends of all ages. Riley also had the gift of showing love and making people feel special and loved. He was adventurous, willing to try anything; canoeing, hiking, parasailing, ziplining, swimming with dolphins, any roller coaster. You name it, he was down for it. Riley loved living and experiencing life.

Riley enjoyed nature, music, dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lavina Jean Hartman and grandfather, John James Rule.

&nbsp;Glenn Scott Turner 55, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 in a Kansas City, KS hospital. 

He was born July 26, 1964 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Norma Jean and Floyd Turner. He attended Benton high school, and married Lisa Rose on June 30, 1990. He worked in the construction industry, enjoyed playing and coaching his sons baseball teams, mushroom hunting and fishing, riding four wheelers, but most of all helping other people with their projects. 

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Joyce Mackley. 

Survivors include, wife, Lisa Turner of the home, four sons, Bryan (Marissa), Luke (Stephanie), Ridge and Reed (Paige) Turner, a brother, Ray (Leslie) Turner, and a sister, Marti. Joseph, MO, three grandchildren, Kamden, Braely &amp; Maely, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert Lee "Bob" Rankin, 95, St. Joseph, MO, &nbsp;passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at a local healthcare facility.

Bob was born on October 6, 1924 in St. Joseph, Mo, to the late Fred and Mary Rankin and was raised in Bolckow.

In 1945, he married Helen Atkins, she preceded him in death in 1993.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations and earned the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.

Following the end of the war, Bob was part of the Occupation forces in Japan and he was later stationed on Okinawa where he was instrumental in processing the service personnel for their return to the United States. He was honorably discharged in 1946.&nbsp;

He spent the majority of his working career as a territory sales representative for the American Electric Company in St. Joseph and Maryville covering northwest Missouri and southern Iowa. Bob had countless customers who were very loyal to him over the decades and he was sorely missed by them upon his retirement.

Survivors include his second wife Shirley, sons; Michael (Connie) Rankin and Ronald (Ann) Rankin, grandchildren; Christina (Brad) Sievers, Elizabeth (Larry) Leivan, great-grandchildren; Abigail and Ava Sievers. step-sons; James (Jennie) Jennings, and Dennis (Linda) Jennings. step-grandchildren; Candice (Quinten) Graves, James Jennings III, Kristen Jennings, step-great-grandchildren; Kayden Graves and Gabe Graves.

&nbsp;Pauline A. White, 94, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020.

She was born April 26, 1926 to August and Hilda Blattner in Newport, Oregon.

Pauline Blattner met Delmer White while he was on leave in the Navy. They married October 26, 1946 and moved to Missouri to become farmers. Pauline and Delmer shared 65 years together before his passing in 2011.

She was an LPN for years. After retiring from nursing, she earned her Bachelor of Science in social science from Missouri Western State University.

Pauline was a member of Central Christian Church and formerly Orchid Christian Church in Union Star. She was involved in Girl Scouts and 4-H as well as her crafting circle.

Pauline enjoyed crafts, gardening, flowers, traveling to see her family in Oregon, shopping, being involved in community activities, attending her grandchildren’s school and sport events, and getting together with family, especially on Christmas, birthdays, holidays and special occasions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Dorothy Blattner and Maxine Schaffer; and daughter-in-law, Helen White. He was born January 31, 1939 in St. Joseph, MO to William E. &amp; Marie E. (Stocksdill) Vetter.

Bob married Carol A. Lawrence on March 28, 1957 in North Kansas City. Mr. Vetter served in the US Marine Corps for over 20 years with 2 tours in Vietnam, retiring in 1976 as a Gunnery Sergeant.

He attended Longview Community College and then taught auto classes at North Town High School for over 20 years, retiring in 2001. His best hobby was family history and spending time with Maggie Wee, our great little dog who was family too!

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters Billie Moore and Jean Hansen.

&nbsp;Mark Wayne Cook 59, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. 

He was born November 18, 1960 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Lois and Charles Cook. Mark was preceded in death by parents. 

Survivors include: brothers: Jerry (Gladys) Cook, Cosby, MO, and Timmy Cook, St. Joseph, and a sister, Marie Hoffman, as well as several nieces &amp; nephews.

&nbsp;Mark Wayne Cook 59, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. He was born November 18, 1960 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Lois and Charles Cook. Mark was preceded in death by parents. Survivors include: brothers: Jerry (Gladys) Cook, Cosby, MO, and Timmy Cook, St. Joseph, and a sister, Marie Hoffman, as well as several nieces &amp; nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday with Funeral Services following at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home, Rob Diamond Officiating. The Inurnment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; On Friday, July 10, 2020 at 12:40 pm, Rex Sowell left the game to play in the heavenly league. 

He was 77 years old. Rex was born March 17, 1943 to the late Ed and Odessa Sowell, much to the delight of his older brother Dale to help even the lineup to his five sisters, then later 2 brothers. Dale got to name his new little team mate after "Rex the Wonder Dog." So it seemed Rex would have to live up to a celebrity status ordained at birth. Rex was a 1962 graduate of Benton High School. He attended Highland Community College, and he was very proud of the time he spent there, and particularly the trophy with his name, which sat in the trophy case at Highland for many years. He also went to Maryville State Teacher's College on a full ride football scholarship, and he later graduated from Missouri Western State College with a teaching/coaching degree. He worked many years at Armour's and Dugdale's, and Quaker Oats. His life was defined by his love for sports, and every conversation would always somehow come back to a discussion of sports, a specific game, or player and their performances, their state and national standings, and how or what needed to be done to make them better. He also loved to reminisce about his dancing days and had countless stories to tell.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lauretta Ashworth, Nina Leavitt, Shirley Felker, Gerry Bowman-McGuire, and Edna "Rusty" Howard, three brothers, Dale Sowell, Art Harrington, and Danny Devereaux, brothers in Law, Shorty Ashworth, Eddie Leavitt, Ray Felker, Bill Bowman, Jesse (Joker) Grace, Steve McGuire, and Rick Kowalski.

Survivors include, wife, Shelly of the home, daughter, Rachael (Nate) Arnold, Richard (Trish) Sowell, Ricky Sowell, Archie (Kari) Sowell, and Mark (Eva) Sowell, 12 grandchildren, and his two adopted in spirit daughters, Lucky Tovey, and Angie Williams, brothers and sisters in law, Melvin Howard, Diane (Jesse) Grace, Bill (Toni) Grace, Sherry Kowalski, Sheila Grace, Rebekah (Dave) Chikosi, as well as many very beloved nieces, nephews &amp; many cherished friends.

Brandon Lee Fisher 40, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday July 8, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. 

He was born February 7, 1980 in Lubbock, Texas.

Sister Agnes Honz, OSB, 86, a Benedictine sister of Mount St. Scholastica, Atchison, Kan., died Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the monastery. Funeral services are pending until a future date. Sister Agnes was born in Panama, Iowa, on April 25, 1934. After high school, she entered the monastery in 1951. Earning a B.S. in education from Mount St. Scholastica College, she taught in elementary schools in Kansas and Missouri for 20 years and later did graduate studies in counseling and theology at Creighton University. Always devoted to the people of southwestern Iowa, she was part of the Covenant Monastery foundation in Harlan, Ia. After earning her clinical pastoral education certificate, she worked as a chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Ia. She also served on the Diocesan Pastoral Council for the Des Moines diocese and the Regional Pastoral Council in Council Bluffs, Ia. One of the highlights of her life was receiving communion from Pope John Paul II when he visited Des Moines in 1979. From 1987 to 1993, she was a chaplain at St. Joseph Medical Center in Ponca City, Okla. When she returned to the Mount, she did hair care and therapeutic massage and assisted at the Mount Conference Center and Sophia Center. Sister Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Sedona (Hoffmann) and Clement Honz, her brothers, Raymond, Donald, Edward and Dennis Honz and her sister, Rita Schneckloth. Mary Ann (Abernathy) Heastan, 89, of Savannah, Missouri passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the Shady Lawn Living Center.

Mary was born on October 1, 1930 in Stanberry, Missouri to Gilbert and Ruth Maxine (Elliott) Abernathy. She lived most of her life in Savannah. She was housewife most of her life. Mary was of the Lutheran faith and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the V.F.W.

Mary married Calvin Heastan on January 6, 1949. They were married 52 years. He preceded her death on March 25, 2002. Mary also had a companion Lester Basham (Drut) of 13 years. Lester passed away in 2015.

Mary enjoyed her family, Casino, Bettys Café, getting hair done at Linda’s Hair Design in Savannah for many years, also car rides, new friends at Shady Lawn.

She was preceded in death by her parents. one brother, George Ray Abernathy and one sister, Betty Jean Watson.

Jacob Cainen Bichelmeyer, 44 passed away in his Hiawatha, KS home on Thursday, June 25. &nbsp;

Jake was born on December 16, 1975 in Lawrence, KS to Matt Bichelmeyer and Robin(Lattie)Bichelmeyer. &nbsp;He grew up in the Western Shawnee /Lenexa area until he was 15, then the family moved to Tonganoxie, KS. Jake enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers. &nbsp;He also loved to play the guitar just like his Dad. &nbsp;He often talked about wanting to be a park ranger. &nbsp;He loved animals and had a special place in his heart for dogs, of which he had many over the years.

&nbsp;Jake married Joanna Finch in June 1997, and together they had two daughters, Bailey Jo and Riley Ann. &nbsp;Jake helped &nbsp;his Dad in both his Grocery store &nbsp;and later in his Steakhouse, even helping with the transition from one to the other. &nbsp;He also had many other jobs throughout his life, such as flooring installation, construction, meat cutting, tree-trimming, and he was a member of the Laborers Union. &nbsp;In 2015, Jake married Sherry Lyn Jones. &nbsp;They lived together in Hiawatha, KS with their two dogs, Louie and Lola. &nbsp;Sherry and Jake were very much in love.

&nbsp;He is preceded in death by his Father, Matt Bichelmeyer.

&nbsp;Jake is survived by his wife, Sherry of the home, two daughters Bailey and Riley of Tonganoxie, KS, a stepdaughter Tara Coffelt of Oregon, MO, a stepson Christopher Smith(Lacy) of Dearborn, MO, his Mother Robin McKinzie (Gary) of Olathe, KS, one sister, Jenny Hipsher(Tony) of Shawnee, KS, two step-brothers Hunter Dean and Parker Dean of Kansas City, 2 nieces, Jordan and Macie and two Stepmothers, Vicki Selby and Randi Bichelmeyer.

Jacob D. "Jake" Bichelmeyer  1975 - 2020

Charliss Kay Korthanke, age 68, passed away on July 2, 2020 at her home outside of Robinson.&nbsp; She was born on January 25, 1952 in Norman, Oklahoma to Bernard and Donna Dellasega, but was raised in Pittsburg, Kansas.

&nbsp;Charliss was a beautiful and outgoing person.&nbsp; She was crowned homecoming queen of her high school class and was an attendant at homecoming at Pittsburg State University, where she met her eventual husband of 44 years, Jim Korthanke.&nbsp; He had never met anyone quite like her.&nbsp; He saw her for the first time in 1973 during a 4th of July weekend.&nbsp; She was standing on a table with a friend leading a song in front of a packed house.&nbsp; A quiet and reserved person by nature, Jim was drawn to the warm and gregarious Charliss, who was the life of the party.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was hard to forget.

They were married on June 4th, 1976.&nbsp; As the well-used 1965 Ford truck, fitted with a camper, began to sputter on the steep gravel road on the way up Pike’s Peak during their honeymoon, Charliss perhaps wondered how long her marriage would last.&nbsp; But after having five kids, starting an ostrich business, building their dream house, and retiring to spend time with their 12 grandkids, it seems that there was never any reason to wonder.&nbsp;

Charliss loved bright, colorful things and had a creative eye for fashion and design.&nbsp; She collected decorative items and enjoyed spending time gardening and with her grandkids.

&nbsp;Charliss is survived by her husband, Jim; their five children, Kortney (Johnny), Reba (Jake), Eli (Galie), Isaiah (Caitlin) and Libby (Adam); 12 grandchildren, and three brothers, Steve, Dave, and Dan.&nbsp;

Charliss was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and Bernard; and her sister, Dena (Steve).&nbsp;

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12th at The Christian Center in Hiawatha from 4-7PM.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, July 13th at 10AM, also at the Christian Center.&nbsp; In celebration of Charliss’ personality the family would love for those attending to wear bright colors.

Charliss Kay Korthanke, age 68, passed away on July 2, 2020 at her home outside of Robinson.&nbsp; She was born on January 25, 1952 in Norman, Oklahoma to Bernard and Donna Dellasega, but was raised in Pittsburg, Kansas.&nbsp;Charliss was a beautiful and outgoing person.&nbsp; She was crowned homecoming queen of her high school class and was an attendant at homecoming at Pittsburg State University, where she met her eventual husband of 44 years, Jim Korthanke.&nbsp; He had never met anyone quite like her.&nbsp; He saw her for the first time in 1973 during a 4th of July weekend.&nbsp; She was standing on a table with a friend leading a song in front of a packed house.&nbsp; A quiet and reserved person by nature, Jim was drawn to the warm and gregarious Charliss, who was the life of the party.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was hard to forget.They were married on June 4th, 1976.&nbsp; As the well-used 1965 Ford truck, fitted with a camper, began to sputter on the steep gravel road on the way up Pike’s Peak during their honeymoon, Charliss perhaps wondered how long her marriage would last.&nbsp; But after having five kids, starting an ostrich business, building their dream house, and retiring to spend time with their 12 grandkids, it seems that there was never any reason to wonder.&nbsp;Charliss loved bright, colorful things and had a creative eye for fashion and design.&nbsp; She collected decorative items and enjoyed spending time gardening and with her grandkids.&nbsp;Charliss is survived by her husband, Jim; their five children, Kortney (Johnny), Reba (Jake), Eli (Galie), Isaiah (Caitlin) and Libby (Adam); 12 grandchildren, and three brothers, Steve, Dave, and Dan.&nbsp;Charliss was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and Bernard; and her sister, Dena (Steve).&nbsp;A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12th at The Christian Center in Hiawatha from 4-7PM.The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, July 13th at 10AM, also at the Christian Center.&nbsp; In celebration of Charliss’ personality the family would love for those attending to wear bright colors.&nbsp;The family requests donations be made towards Charliss’s memorial in lieu of flowers, sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S 7th&nbsp;St., 66434.A special note may be sent to the family at&nbsp;<a href="http://www.chapeloaksfuneralhome.com/">www.chapeloaksfuneralhome.com</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Services will be broadcast live at the Facebook group page:&nbsp; Chapel Oaks Funeral Home Hiawatha &amp; Highland KS.<figure>

Allen Junior Davidson, 53, Cosby, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020.

He was born November 23, 1966 to Junior and Francie Davidson. Allen loved all outdoor activities, such as riding his go-kart, biking, and spending time with his family and dog, Harley. He not only liked playing Ping Pong but was very good at it too. Allen was a genuine, nice guy. Allen enjoyed life: he was always planning for what the future held, always looking at the cup half full. Allen’s life was full of surprises, the biggest surprise was him going Home early to his Heavenly Father this 4th of July weekend. Allen will be missed and was loved by everyone that knew him. He never knew a stranger.

Survivors include his parents, sisters, Peggy Phinney, Tammy Hoecker (Shawn); brothers, Mike Davidson, Jody Davidson; nephews, David Phinney, Shawn Phinney, Shawn Davidson, Gabriel Hoecker, Johnathan Hoecker, Jacob Hoecker; and niece, Tiffany Phinney.
