Edna “Jean” Hull, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at home.

She was born January 31, 1931 to Jesse and Violet (Goodman) Hull in Norwood, Missouri. Jean was the owner/operator of The Missourian Tavern for many years before retiring. She enjoyed going to a casino whenever possible.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Opal Towe (Bob) and Eula Miller (Steven).

Survivors include her sons, Leon Bradshaw (Sherry), Terry Bradshaw; grandchildren, Robert Bradshaw (Erica), Stacie Johnson (Shannon), David Bradshaw (Mary), Raman Bradshaw (Noelle); 13 greatgrandchildren; brother, Lyle Hull (Carol); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Geraldine "Jerri" McAsey 90 of St. Joseph passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Diversicare. 

She was born January 15, 1930, the daughter of the late Marion and Louis Hummer. She graduated from Benton High School and married Bob, the love of her life. They shared 73 years of marriage. Jerri was a loving, giving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was proud to have five generations of family. She had many friends because she was a good friend. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards with her best friend and love of her life, Bob. She loved her Catholic faith, praying the rosary and attending daily Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church. 

She was preceded in death by her true love, Bob, April 11, 2020, daughter, Kathleen McAsey, great-great grandson, Seth, parents, sister, Margaret Menschik, brothers, Vincent and Richard.

Dennis D. “Denny” Greer, 86, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday morning, September 1, 2020, at Select Hospital in Kansas City, KS.

Denny was born August 24, 1934, near Oak Hill, KS, the only child born to Ralph and Wilma Largent Greer.&nbsp; He developed a strong work ethic at an early age by helping his family on the farm, attending schools, and graduated high school at Longford, KS.&nbsp; Denny served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, returning, and moved with his parents to Silver Lake, KS where they owned and operated the Silver Lake Motel.&nbsp; Between the farm and the motel, he developed the ability to work and fix most things.&nbsp; He was not afraid to try anything!&nbsp; He started as a shoe salesman in Topeka before going to work for Nabisco Brands, first as a deliveryman, then as a salesman upon which they transferred him to Hiawatha in 1960, a position he held for nearly 30 years before retiring September 1, 1989.&nbsp; Denny later became an assistant funeral director with Schroeder Brown County Mortuary in Hiawatha for several years before it sold to Chapel Oaks, where was an involved for nearly 15 years.&nbsp; There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do or help with:&nbsp; services, wash cars, paint, whatever!&nbsp; This was in conjunction with he and his wife Betty cleaning the Morrill &amp; Janes Bank, to helping a friend in the construction business, to helping his sons with projects of their own.

If you knew Dennis at all, you knew he was ‘all in’ whatever he was doing, community involvement no different.&nbsp; He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Hiawatha where he served in various capacities through the years:&nbsp; Deacon, Trustee, Chairman of Men’s Fellowship, Nominating Board, Constitution Board, Pastoral Board, usher, greeter, and choir member.&nbsp; When the boys when young, Denny was scoutmaster for 10 years of Boy Scout Troop #117, sponsored by BPOE #1741, Hiawatha Elks Lodge, and also as assistant scout master.&nbsp; He was an organizing member of the Brown County Association for Retarded Citizens and through the years, served in various capacities there.&nbsp; He had served on the auxiliary with the Hiawatha Police Department at the time when they restored the 1950 Ford which is a duplicate of one of the early police cars in Hiawatha.&nbsp; Denny was also a dedicated member and board member of the Brown County Ag Museum in Hiawatha of which he was instrumental in many of their fund raising activities including helping serve their Saturday morning breakfasts.&nbsp; He also found time to serve on the Republican Committee.&nbsp; Being a veteran was important to Dennis, as he was a member of Homer-White Post #66, Hiawatha American Legion, of which he was a member of the funeral honors for a number of years.&nbsp; In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, and making homemade ice cream!&nbsp; He had a great sense of humor, and a devoted friend.&nbsp; An oh my, he never found a bad cup of coffee, always had time to take a break!

He married his high school sweetheart Betty Gubham, July 19, 1953, at Oak Hill.&nbsp; To this union, 4 children were born:&nbsp; Douglas, Karla, Eric and Karen.&nbsp; They lived all of their married life in Hiawatha where they raised their family, enjoyed traveling and working together before her untimely death in October 2007.&nbsp; He later married Virginia Baker in 2008.&nbsp; They enjoyed traveling across the state of Kansas where they visited the old time soda fountains.&nbsp; Virginia died April 11, 2018.&nbsp; He later married Shirley Martin Murdy, January 19, 2019.

Survivors include his wife Shirley, sons:&nbsp; Douglas Greer (Cynthia) of Savannah, MO, Eric Greer (Jill) of Topeka, daughter Karen Greer of Hiawatha, son-in-law Jack Simpson of Texas; six grandchildren:&nbsp; Jackie Simpson, Jacob Simpson, Eric Simpson, Trenna Greer, Katie Greer, and Jordan Greer, and a number of great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Karla Simpson.

John Bittiker, 50, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away September 1, 2020. He was born November 7, 1969 to Larry D. &amp; Orvilla R. (Ashworth) Bittiker, Sr., in St. Joseph, Missouri and was later raised by his dad, mentor and friend Jay Scroggins.

He attended Benton High School. He lived in St. Joseph and Las Vegas, NV, during his extensive career in sales and finance for more than 25 years. He trained automotive dealerships how to manage their business, traveling to do so and also worked for a sports advertising agency. But really, his dream job was to be a racecar driver. John was competitive. He was a sports fanatic and was a fan of both Royals and Chiefs. He was a member of Oak Christian Church. John loved to look at the constellations, stars in the night sky, especially the Big Dipper. He could hear a plane and tell you what type of plane without even looking. John was known for his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. He was the best at one-liners. His family remembers him as particular and organized. He always had a plan. John was a collector of sentimental objects. Everything had a story. He collected pictures to remind him of moments in time. John loved to gather and spend time with his family. They meant the world to him. His girls were his life and he loved them with his whole heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Jay Scroggins; brother, Larry Bittiker; sister, Felicia Richey.

He was a member of the VFW Post #359, Oddfellows Lodge #505 and Freeman Chapel Baptist Church. Wil enjoyed fishing, hunting, daily breakfast with his guard buddies and watching westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Stacie J. (Wells) Root, 49, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday, August 31, 2020.

She was born August 19, 1971 to Jerry and Mary (Kerwin) Wells in St. Joseph, Missouri. Stacie married Jim Root July 1, 2000. She was a graduate of Central High School and Missouri Western State University. She was an office manager for the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for Buchanan County, starting at age 19.

We have lost one of the most beautiful souls that this world has been lucky enough to know. She was loving, caring, and always showed compassion. When you met her, you instantly loved her. If she was your friend, you had one for life. Family was everything to Stacie. She was so in love with her husband Jimmy. Their lake house was one of her favorite places to be with him. She was the best friend to her brother and sister. She was a sister that most only dream of having. A bond that not even death could or will ever break. 

She was an amazing Grandma Stacie to her beautiful grandchildren. She was the best Aunt Stac to her nieces and nephews and Aunt Tatie to her precious little great nephews. She adopted many nieces and nephews along the way. Blood or not, she loved each and everyone with nothing short of a mother’s love. She was and always will be the light of so many lives and will be missed more than words can explain.

Stacie J. (Wells) Root, 49, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday, August 31, 2020. She was born August 19, 1971 to Jerry and Mary (Kerwin) Wells in St. Joseph, Missouri. Stacie married Jim Root July 1, 2000. She was a graduate of Central High School and Missouri Western State University. She was an office manager for the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for Buchanan County, starting at age 19. We have lost one of the most beautiful souls that this world has been lucky enough to know. She was born May 9, 1961 in Azusa, California to John and Gwen (Ramage) Hawkins. Judith enjoyed working with show horses, cooking, gardening, fishing, animals, but most of all, spending time with her family.

Austin Owens, 26, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

He was born January 17, 1994 in St. Joseph, son of Cindy Puckett and Sean Owens. He attended Benton High School. Austin enjoyed cooking and worked at several area restaurants. He also enjoyed shooting guns, turtles, spending time with his kids, his dog, Marshall and especially time with his family. 

Survivors include, mother, Cindy (Chris) Patrylak of St. Joseph, father, Sean Owens of St. Joseph, girlfriend, Kaitlyn German, two children, Autumn Owens and Lyric Williams, sisters, Bernadette Patrylak and Kelly Lynn Owens, grandparents, Jerry and Judy Puckett of St. Joseph, Joyce Owens of St. Joseph, Jack and Elaine Owens of Tucson, AZ and Peggy and Wally Patrylak of St. Joseph and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John J. McManus, 89, of St. Joseph, Missouri, formally of Easton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020.

John was born May 2, 1931 to Joseph C. and Kathleen (Allgaier) McManus at Easton, Missouri.&nbsp; He graduated from Easton High School.&nbsp; He then joined the United States Navy Reserves and served in active duty during the Korean conflict.&nbsp; On returning home from the Navy he worked for St. Joseph Paper Box Company.&nbsp; He farmed in Buchanan county for over 70 years. He also worked for MFA for 16 years.&nbsp; He was an active member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Hurlingen, Missouri.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James, Frank and Charles, sisters; Margaret Felling, Alice Valencia, Rita Reznik and infant Helen McManus.

John is survived by brothers Bill (Vicky) (St. Joseph) and Michael McManus (Louise) &nbsp;(Wilmington, NC), sisters; Dorothy Burns (Phoenix, AZ), Mary Vanzant (St. Joseph), Clare Decker (Omaha, NE), Joann Kieter and Eileen Blasi (both of Wichita, KS) and Barbara Smith (Charles) (St. Joseph) and numerous nieces and nephews.

John J. McManus  1931 - 2020

Betty Hinkle, age 83, St. Joseph, Missouri , passed peacefully at home into the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2020.&nbsp;

Betty was born in Amazonia, Missouri on June 25, 1937.&nbsp; She graduated from Lafayette High School, St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1955 and married Melburn Hinkle on June 23, 1956.&nbsp; Betty and Melburn made their home in St. Joseph where they loved and raised 4 children.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was the beloved grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Betty and Melburn shared their home over the years with many “bonus” children, when needed, as well as with great nephew Michael Gonzalez and his mother Vickie Gonzalez, deceased.&nbsp; Their home was always full of kids, great meals and lots of love and laughter.&nbsp;

Betty dearly loved to garden, cook and home can many fruits and vegetables from her gardens.&nbsp; She was a scratch cook and loved cooking big meals for family and friends.&nbsp; Her homemade bread and rolls were the best!&nbsp;&nbsp; She was always cooking for her family’s work socials, fishing trips and vacations.&nbsp; She loved family vacations and camping in South Dakota and Wyoming each year.&nbsp; She would raise and sell enough corn from her garden to pay for their entire family vacation that year!

Betty loved birds, squirrels and, hummingbirds especially, as evidenced by her many outside feeders that she could watch from her living room window.&nbsp; She also enjoyed gaming with her many friends when she had the opportunity over the years.

Betty was preceded in death by her Husband, Melburn Hinkle; &nbsp;&nbsp;Parents, Bessie and Charles Cole; &nbsp;&nbsp;Sisters, Mary Ann Pryor, Esther Thorburn and Gloria Stevens; &nbsp;and&nbsp; Brothers,&nbsp; Harold Cole, Wilson Cole, Charles (Junior) Cole and Clyde Cole.

Betty is survived by her sons; &nbsp;Mark (Michelle) Hinkle, Stewartsville, MO, Todd Hinkle, Paul (Julie) Hinkle and daughter, Paige (Eldon) Allen, of St. Joseph, MO.&nbsp; Grandchildren;&nbsp; &nbsp;Shaun (Chassidy) Hinkle, Jaime Copeland, Nate Hinkle, Ashley Hinkle, Jacob Allen, Anthony Allen and Padon Allen.&nbsp;&nbsp; Great&nbsp; Grandchildren;&nbsp; Alyssa, Ashleigh, Danika, Camden, Annabelle, Jase, Evan, Kingston, Kali, Hadley and Kinley.

Betty Hinkle, age 83, St. Joseph, Missouri , passed peacefully at home into the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2020.&nbsp;Betty was born in Amazonia, Missouri on June 25, 1937.&nbsp; She graduated from Lafayette High School, St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1955 and married Melburn Hinkle on June 23, 1956.&nbsp; Betty and Melburn made their home in St. Joseph where they loved and raised 4 children.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was the beloved grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Betty and Melburn shared their home over the years with many “bonus” children, when needed, as well as with great nephew Michael Gonzalez and his mother Vickie Gonzalez, deceased.&nbsp; Their home was always full of kids, great meals and lots of love and laughter.&nbsp;Betty dearly loved to garden, cook and home can many fruits and vegetables from her gardens.&nbsp; She was a scratch cook and loved cooking big meals for family and friends.&nbsp; Her homemade bread and rolls were the best!&nbsp;&nbsp; She was always cooking for her family’s work socials, fishing trips and vacations.&nbsp; She loved family vacations and camping in South Dakota and Wyoming each year.&nbsp; She would raise and sell enough corn from her garden to pay for their entire family vacation that year!Betty loved birds, squirrels and, hummingbirds especially, as evidenced by her many outside feeders that she could watch from her living room window.&nbsp; She also enjoyed gaming with her many friends when she had the opportunity over the years.Betty was preceded in death by her Husband, Melburn Hinkle; &nbsp;&nbsp;Parents, Bessie and Charles Cole; &nbsp;&nbsp;Sisters, Mary Ann Pryor, Esther Thorburn and Gloria Stevens; &nbsp;and&nbsp; Brothers,&nbsp; Harold Cole, Wilson Cole, Charles (Junior) Cole and Clyde Cole.Betty is survived by her sons; &nbsp;Mark (Michelle) Hinkle, Stewartsville, MO, Todd Hinkle, Paul (Julie) Hinkle and daughter, Paige (Eldon) Allen, of St. Joseph, MO.&nbsp; Grandchildren;&nbsp; &nbsp;Shaun (Chassidy) Hinkle, Jaime Copeland, Nate Hinkle, Ashley Hinkle, Jacob Allen, Anthony Allen and Padon Allen.&nbsp;&nbsp; Great&nbsp; Grandchildren;&nbsp; Alyssa, Ashleigh, Danika, Camden, Annabelle, Jase, Evan, Kingston, Kali, Hadley and Kinley.A graveside service only will be held on Monday, August 31st&nbsp;at Memorial Park Cemetery at 3:00 pm.&nbsp; Following the graveside service, friends and family are invited to join the family at Betty’s home, 4 pm to 7 pm, for fellowship and a snack and dessert bar.&nbsp;&nbsp; The family kindly requests no flowers; however, memorial tribute donations in Betty’s honor, to help offset final expenses, can be made through Heaton Bowman Funeral Home, 3609 Frederick Blvd., St. Joseph, MO,&nbsp; 64506.<figure>

Joseph A. Pankau, 81, Clarksdale, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care into the loving arms of Jesus – Romans 10:9-10.

He was born April 20, 1939 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Joseph and Mary Pankau. Joseph attended St. Francis, Woodbine, Central and Mid Buchanan Schools. His career in life was all about dairy cattle and dairy products. He worked eleven years at Western Dairy bottling Justrite products. Joseph also worked for Charles Deal Dairy in Braymer, Missouri and Gary Klein Dairy in Helena, Missouri, then with his son Ted in the King City area.

Fishing was always an adventure to him, and his friend Rex Jones added to that with lots of stories and humor. He enjoyed coffee with his friends at the Clarksdale General Store, and he never met a stranger.

Joseph was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Marie; grandson, Joshua; his parents; and brother Steven.

Survivors include his wife Colene of 61 years; sons, Ted (Cindy), Todd, TJ (Sharon); grandchildren, Bill, David, Kelley, Wyatt, Trevor, Miranda, Kaleb and Isaiah; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond, Roger (Fraucie), David (Sherry); sisters, Mary Bosch (Jack), Jeanie Siela (Chris), Tammy Elmes (Mike), and Trudy Corkins (Gary).

Nancy L. (Schulte) Townsend passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2020. She was surrounded by her family, in her own home, as the new day began. 

Nancy was born on March 7, 1928, on her family farm East of Maryville, to Roy and Clara (Steins) Schulte. 

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Tom Townsend, of the home, and their five children, Steve (Cheryl), Don (Annie) of Maryville, Ken (Peg) of Shawnee, Kansas, Fred, and Jane (Randy) of Kansas City. Also left behind are 13 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren, and her dedicated caregiver Eva Zeiger. She has two surviving siblings, John Schulte (Irene) of Maryville, and Patricia Cook (Edward) of Monroe, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Taylor (Charles) of Maryville, and Mary Jane Hunold Strah (George) of Fort Madison, Iowa. As a child, she was a farm girl and a tomboy, full of spirit. Her brothers, tired of her always tagging along, once tied her to a fence post where she was trapped and humiliated until her mother came to her rescue. They had a beloved horse named Spider whose legend has grown with the years. She often told her children stories of Spider taking the Schulte kids to the Douglas County School house each morning. He would then return to the farm and come back to collect them at the end of the school day. Nancy attended Horace Mann High School, and after graduation taught at one-room schools in the county, while taking classes at Northwest Missouri State College. Nancy and Tom married at St. Mary's church in Maryville on November 4, 1948, and began a deep and lasting commitment of love that would become an inspiration to everyone who knew them. An extremely faith filled woman, Nancy lived her belief in the expression on her face and dedication to the Catholic faith. Never did a harsh word or judgmental comment come from her lips or her heart. She usually had a rosary at easy reach and encouraged her family to follow her path, sending her children to St. Gregory's School and ensuring they were in attendance at Sunday mass as a family. She and Tom were and remain active supporters of Conception Seminary College and Conception Abbey. Often their home was filled with seminarians from the community, enjoying the welcome - and usually a platter of fried chicken! Nancy was an extremely creative woman with artistic avenues reaching many mediums. She was a painter, a ceramic artist, and an excellent seamstress, be it children’s clothing, priest vestments, or prom and wedding dresses. She used a natural sponge to add textured paint to an otherwise common pick up truck cab, and could reupholster furniture like a professional. Bleach bottles became pigs for the Cub Scouts, and sets for school plays or projects were easily devised. She plastered walls and refinished floors, never doubting that she was capable of such skills. Music was always encouraged in her home; the obvious pianos and trumpets and drums of course, but there was also an original Wurlitzer jukebox filled with 45's of the latest tunes. An entire room of their big wonderful home was dedicated just to dancing and would fill with cousins doing the jitterbug at the drop of a needle - no quarter required! Nancy and Tom were avid ballroom dancers most all of their lives. Most Saturdays they would be found in Savannah dance halls, or the Frog Hop in St. Joseph, and later at the Eagles Club in Maryville. They also enjoyed square dancing for a time, complete with elaborate costumes made by Nancy. She was a self-taught organist at St. Gregory's Church for 20 years. She and Tom traveled extensively, never missing the annual Knights of Columbus Convention. Always up for an adventure was Nancy, all while trying not to worry about what the kids might be up to at home. She was a homemaker first and foremost - growing and canning, baking, or filling the freezer with homemade tamales. When most of her friends were slowing and ready to retire, Nancy started a successful business at her kitchen table, a concept we know now as a temp agency. She operated that business, Northwest Services, for 25 years, placing more than 3000 employees in plants and businesses around Maryville. During this time she was also the bookkeeper and secretary for Tom's business, Northwest Power Sales. A private family mass is planned. Nancy L. (Schulte) Townsend passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2020. She was surrounded by her family, in her own home, as the new day began. Nancy was born on March 7, 1928, on her family farm East of Maryville, to Roy and Clara (Steins) Schulte. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Tom Townsend, of the home, and their five children, Steve (Cheryl), Don (Annie) of Maryville, Ken (Peg) of Shawnee, Kansas, Fred, and Jane (Randy) of Kansas City. Also left behind are 13 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren, and her dedicated caregiver Eva Zeiger. She has two surviving siblings, John Schulte (Irene) of Maryville, and Patricia Cook (Edward) of Monroe, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Taylor (Charles) of Maryville, and Mary Jane Hunold Strah (George) of Fort Madison, Iowa. As a child, she was a farm girl and a tomboy, full of spirit. Her brothers, tired of her always tagging along, once tied her to a fence post where she was trapped and humiliated until her mother came to her rescue. They had a beloved horse named Spider whose legend has grown with the years. She often told her children stories of Spider taking the Schulte kids to the Douglas County School house each morning. He would then return to the farm and come back to collect them at the end of the school day. Nancy attended Horace Mann High School, and after graduation taught at one-room schools in the county, while taking classes at Northwest Missouri State College. Nancy and Tom married at St. Mary's church in Maryville on November 4, 1948, and began a deep and lasting commitment of love that would become an inspiration to everyone who knew them. An extremely faith filled woman, Nancy lived her belief in the expression on her face and dedication to the Catholic faith. Never did a harsh word or judgmental comment come from her lips or her heart. She usually had a rosary at easy reach and encouraged her family to follow her path, sending her children to St. Gregory's School and ensuring they were in attendance at Sunday mass as a family. She and Tom were and remain active supporters of Conception Seminary College and Conception Abbey. Often their home was filled with seminarians from the community, enjoying the welcome - and usually a platter of fried chicken! Nancy was an extremely creative woman with artistic avenues reaching many mediums. She was a painter, a ceramic artist, and an excellent seamstress, be it children’s clothing, priest vestments, or prom and wedding dresses. She used a natural sponge to add textured paint to an otherwise common pick up truck cab, and could reupholster furniture like a professional. Bleach bottles became pigs for the Cub Scouts, and sets for school plays or projects were easily devised. She plastered walls and refinished floors, never doubting that she was capable of such skills. Music was always encouraged in her home; the obvious pianos and trumpets and drums of course, but there was also an original Wurlitzer jukebox filled with 45's of the latest tunes. An entire room of their big wonderful home was dedicated just to dancing and would fill with cousins doing the jitterbug at the drop of a needle - no quarter required! Nancy and Tom were avid ballroom dancers most all of their lives. Most Saturdays they would be found in Savannah dance halls, or the Frog Hop in St. Joseph, and later at the Eagles Club in Maryville. They also enjoyed square dancing for a time, complete with elaborate costumes made by Nancy. She was a self-taught organist at St. Gregory's Church for 20 years. She and Tom traveled extensively, never missing the annual Knights of Columbus Convention. Always up for an adventure was Nancy, all while trying not to worry about what the kids might be up to at home. She was a homemaker first and foremost - growing and canning, baking, or filling the freezer with homemade tamales. Cathy Ann Raymond 69, of Newpoint, Missouri died August 25, 2020 at home. 

She was born March 17, 1951, Cameron, Missouri. 

Cathy was preceded in death by son, Jim Raymond, parents; Neoma and Leonard Wrex.

Patrick Craig Culver, 56, St. Joseph, Missouri, formerly of Kansas City, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020.

He was born November 29, 1963 to Jack and Joyce Culver. Pat was a huge Royals fan and loved his dog, Pete. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Culver and sister, Julie Culver.

Loyd Robert Simpson Jr. 82, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Norterre Healthy Living Center, Liberty, MO. 

He was born March 30, 1938 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of the late Eva &amp; Loyd Simpson. He loved life, family, friends, and his faith. He talked rarely, but stood firm that God was our savior. We needed to live as Jesus did. Love unconditionally. Forgive without being forgiven, be honest, help the needy, never judge, always be faithful to God. Loyd's life was not easy. He had many obstacles, but he never questioned why. He supported St. Jude's &amp; the Shriner's Hospital. He loved children and believed all should help &amp; protect the children. He had a weakness for kids &amp; nothing made him smile more than a baby. He liked to fish, hunt &amp; farm. His business card listed "Jack of many trades, but master of none." He mastered everything he ever challenged. His work ethics were strong &amp; he expected the same from everyone. He had good business skills, and he was very successful at all he chose to do. He entered the Navy at 17 years old &amp; believed to the end that our military was a necessary part of this nation. He was a Shriner &amp; a member of the Rushville Masonic Lodge. He was a Republican who supported his president. He loved his country. Loyd founded the Simpson &amp; Son's Sawmill &amp; enjoyed log buying. He later opened South Side Pawn, which he was known for helping people in need. He'd pull cash out of his pocket to help those less fortunate to pay for their doctors visits without question. He had a big giving heart. 

Loyd was proceeded in death by his parents, Loyd R and Eva Ester Simpson, sister Mary Wilcoxson, wife, Patricia, &amp; son, Loyd "Robbie" Simpson III. 

Survivors include; daughters Daria (Mark) Ussary, Agency, MO, and Shana McLauchlen, St. Joseph, son Stephan (Mary) Simpson, St. Joseph, sisters Marty (Earl) Winder, Delores (Jay) Claycomb, Marna (Jerry) Milbourn, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and several nieces &amp; nephews.

Memorial services 3:00 pm Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. He will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Shriner's Hospital, or St. Jude's Hospital.&nbsp;

She was born May 17, 1921 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Bessie and George Brazzell. She graduated from Benton High School, and she was a homemaker for her life. She loved to cook and be at home with her family. She was a Christian. 

Betty was preceded in death by husband, Milton Bratcher, her parents, sisters, Alice Ellis, Ruby Woodworth, and Zelma Roesch. 

Survivors include, daughter, Lorraine (Mike) Thomson, Saint Joseph, MO, and Nancy (Benny) Farrell, Maryville, MO, sons, Jack Worley, and James (Valerie) Worley both of Kingman, AZ, 12 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
