Carol was born on December 10, 1953 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Edward and Betty (Shankle) Schultz.

Carol is a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

She married Roger Guier on April 15, 1978. He survives of the home. Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

Bob was a veteran of the USAF, a Chemical Engineering graduate of the University of Kansas. He was employed in engineering and plant management for Monsanto and Great Lakes Chemical for a career spanning 34 years and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Olathe KS.

He enjoyed RV travel in North America, wintering in Mesa, AZ for over 20 years, landscape photography, electronics and ham radio.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle &amp; Theodosia Flint, and his wife’s parents, Ivan &amp; Mary Hickman, both of St. Joseph.

Frances Kay Schraufek-Forshee, 83, Centralia, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away peacefully to join her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

On November 19, 1931 she was born to Herbert and Frances (Chapel) Lang in Kahoka, Missouri.

Frances married John Wendell Schraufek on June 17, 1962. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage. He precedes her in death. She married James Forshee in March of 2014. He survives of the home.

She was a Christian previously attending Word of Life Church then bible study in Severance, Kansas.

Frances enjoyed shopping, decorating her home and working in the yard. She liked to play catch with her grandchildren and spend time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and brother, Herb Lang.

Charles Edward Malita, 90, of St. Joseph, died November 21, 2021, in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp; Charlie was born November 27, 1930, in St. Joseph to Edward and Eleanor (Swedo) Malita.&nbsp;

He attended Christian Brothers High School and then graduated from Benton High School.&nbsp;

Charlie honorably served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army, 40th Division, 160th Infantry Regiment, I Company. &nbsp;&nbsp;He received two Bronze Service Stars,the United Nations Service Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

He graduated from the Toledo School of Meatcutters. Charlie was a union meatcutter for his entire career.&nbsp; He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 571.

Charlie married JoAnn Karl on June 23, 1956, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Easton, MO, and she survives of the home.&nbsp; Also surviving are children Craig (Stephanie) Malita of St. Joseph, MO; Paul (Tomme) Malita of Kansas City, MO; Ann (Jeff) Smith of Sioux Falls, SD; Erica (Robert) Johnson of Platte City, MO; Chad (Jeanette) Malita of Easton, MO; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He loved fishing and watching his grandchildren in sports and school performances.&nbsp; He also enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, Chiefs football, and Royals baseball.&nbsp; He volunteered his time to many charitable organizations.

Charlie was a devoted husband and father, and a mentor not only to his children, but to many others as well.

Charles Edward Malita  1930 - 2021

Curtis Edward Gamble, of Hiawatha, passed away November 18, 2021 at the age of 64; he was surrounded by his wife and children after a long fight with pancreatic cancer.

Curtis was born March 16, 1957, in Hiawatha, Kansas, to Rowena Elizabeth (Dixon) Gamble and Edgar Curtis Gamble.&nbsp; He attended Hiawatha schools, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track, setting multiple records that still stand today.&nbsp; After graduating from Hiawatha High school in 1975, Curtis attended Highland Community College before receiving his Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Kansas State University in 1982.

After college, Curtis joined the U.S. Navy, where he reached the rank of Petty Officer Third Class.&nbsp; He served aboard the frigate&nbsp;U.S.S. Bagley,&nbsp;working as both an administrative assistant and Chief Petty Officer, and contributed to Over-the-Horizon Targeting and cruise missile employment before being honorably discharged in 1988.

In a true example of love-at-first-sight, Curtis met Jeanne Marie (Henry) Gamble on a blind date in September 1986.&nbsp; A few short months later, the two were married on April 25, 1987.&nbsp; Their love is manifested by their three children:&nbsp; Christi, Kathryn, and Jonathan.

Curtis worked tirelessly at whatever he set out to do.&nbsp; He served 21 years in law enforcement as a Probation Officer in Brown and Doniphan Counties and as a Corrections Counselor for the California Department of Corrections &amp; Rehabilitation. &nbsp;&nbsp;He also followed his father’s footsteps and created his own business, starting Gamble’s Lawn Care &amp; Spraying Service.&nbsp; In its decades–plus years of operation, it flourished into one of the largest and most renowned black-owned business in northeast Kansas.&nbsp; He would work from sunrise to sunset, to the annoyance of his children who were forced to try to keep up with him.

Few people love their sports teams more than Curtis.&nbsp; Each weekend, he could be found watching his KSU Wildcats or Kansas City Chiefs, yelling at the referees or shouting, “Chiefs, baby!” at the top of his lungs.&nbsp; He also enjoyed grilling a mean steak, watching every Star Trek episode known to man, and remembered his love of music.&nbsp; His voice could move mountains, and all who heard him sing were blown away.&nbsp; In the mornings, he enjoyed obnoxiously waking his children by singing&nbsp;“Oh, What a Beautiful Morning!”&nbsp;at the top of his lungs.&nbsp; He was voted World’s Best Dad, as evidenced by his many mugs and t-shirts (except during his kids’ teenage years, when they dropped him a few notches).&nbsp; Curtis was also a man of great faith and cultivated a life-long relationship with the Lord; he studied Hebrew, sang in the choir, and read his Bible diligently.

Curtis is survived by his wife Jeanne Gamble of the home; sisters: Jacqueline Dodson of Topeka, KS, and Michaelle (Gamble) Warner of Overland Parks, KS; three children:&nbsp; Christi (Daniel) Gentry of Hiawatha, KS; Kathryn Gamble of Hiawatha, KS; Jonathan (Jaime) Gamble of Livermore, CA; five grandchildren:&nbsp; Sean, Faith, and Matthew Gentry, Damien Jackson, and Mariah Weathersby; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.&nbsp; Curtis is now reunited in paradise with his parents, Rowena and Edgar “Jack” Gamble, grandparents, and many cousins and friends.&nbsp; His faith, which carried him through his earthly troubles/struggles has been rewarded with an eternal glory.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November, 27, at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha.&nbsp; Burial with military honors, a courtesy of Brown County Veterans Honor Guard, with follow services at Hiawatha Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Fisher Center.&nbsp;

Thomas was born July 28, 1935, in Kewanee, Indiana to Thomas Dale and Nelda Magnolia (Hogan) Reed.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960; serving in the Special Forces.

He graduated from Purdue University with a Degree in Electrical Engineering.&nbsp; He retired from General Dynamics Corp. in San Diego, CA, where he was an engineer, specializing in the guidance systems for the Atlas rockets.

Thomas married Janice Blizzard on June 9, 1990 in Prescott Arizona and she survives.&nbsp; Also surviving are three sisters in San Diego, CA and nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Paula Bokay.

He was a member of the Water Garden Society and had built his own water garden.&nbsp; He enjoyed horses and the beauty and anything to do with the outdoors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Patee House.

Mary Louise Sigg 68, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 at her home. 

She was born October 31, 1953 in Great Bend, Kansas, daughter of Mary &amp; Daniel Simpson Sr. She graduated from Great Bend High School, and she worked for State Board of Education in Texas as a Computer Tech. She enjoyed kayaking, biking, the outdoors, and spending time with her family. 

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Simpson. 

Survivors include: son, Brandon (Renee) Sigg, St. Joseph, MO, daughter, Wendy (Mike) Holton, El Dorado, KS, father, Daniel Lee Simpson, Hoisington, KS, brother, Daniel Lee (Debbie) Simpson Jr, Kerrville, TX, grandchildren, Blake, Taylor (Phillip) Chase, Caitlyn, Evan, Cierra, and Trystin, great grandchildren: Jeremy, Jaxon, Jayse, and Lilliana.

She was born October 31, 1953 in Great Bend, Kansas, daughter of Mary &amp; Daniel Simpson Sr. She graduated from Great Bend High School, and she worked for State Board of Education in Texas as a Computer Tech. She enjoyed kayaking, biking, the outdoors, and spending time with her family. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Simpson. Cora Kathryn (Kathy) Carr Masteller Jones peacefully passed away on November 9, 2021, with her daughters by her side. 

Cora was born November 18, 1931, to Cora Rebecca Matchett Carr and Harold Vincel Carr in Braymer, Missouri. She spent her childhood in Polo Missouri on the family farm. Moving to St. Joseph, Missouri at age 10. Cora attended Benton High School in St. Joseph and worked at Helen Wrinkles Pharmacy at the soda fountain. She moved to the Kansas City area in 1958. Cora’s passion was being with children. She loved being a stay-at-home mom and raising her three children. She was very active in PTA, a room-mother, and a scout leader. Cora loved remodeling homes, decorating, and knitting. She knitted Christmas stockings for all her children and grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. After her children left home, she worked at TWA airlines. Cora spent her final years in the warm loving hands of the staff at Ignite St. Mary’s in Blue Springs, Missouri. 

Cora was proceeded in death by her parents, Dave Jones, her husband, Kurt H. Masteller her son, sisters Dorothy Carr George and Lucinda Smith Silkwood, nephews Rick George and Christopher George. 

Cora is survived by her daughters Lisa Masteller Martel and Lori Ann Barnett. Her pride and joy, her grandkids Phillip, Andrew, and Matthew Martel; Benjamin and Timothy Barnett; Allison, Daniel, Amy Masteller. Her brother and sister-in-law Danny and Sally Carr plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy G. Haskins, 96, of St. Joseph, passed away, November 20, 2021 at a local nursing home.&nbsp; Billy was born July 30, 1925, in St. Joseph to Bly C. and Grace L. (Haden) Haskins.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater,&nbsp; mainly in the Philippines during World War II.&nbsp; He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1984 as Chief Clerk&nbsp; after 36 years of service.

Billy married Juanita Cochran on April 17, 1948 and she survives.&nbsp; Also surviving are their children, Kathy Schildknecht (Dennis), Jo Mayse (Elmer), Randy Haskins (Susan); eleven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.&nbsp; Billy and Juanita were avid square dancers and were members&nbsp; of the Pony Express Square Dancers.&nbsp; Billy also enjoyed line dancing, but most of all loved spending time with all his family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.

Archie Louis Barnes, 85, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021.

Archie was born November 15, 1936 to Lottie and Sam Barnes.&nbsp; Archie married Lauretta Joyce Provolt May 18, 1954.&nbsp; They married young and were together for 60 years until her passing.

Archie enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels and coins as well as traveling.&nbsp; He worked at Wire Rope for 24 years and retired in 1999.&nbsp; Archie was a member of the Pentecostal faith and was a trained soul winner for God.

Survivors include daughter Holly Barnes; grandchildren Dalton and Nevaeh Barnes; son-in-law Jeremy Hays and multiple nieces and nephews.

Judith Elaine Muff, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021.

She was born July 17, 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Robert and Neoma (Bumphrey) Frizell.

Judith married Larry John Muff on February 1, 1962. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2020.

She was manager of the jewelry department at Montgomery Ward for many years.

In earlier years, Judith and Larry loved going fishing together. Judith loved to bowl and spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed hot chocolate, Pepsi, and watching game shows. She also loved getting her hair done at Lila’s, aka “Phyllis”, Salon in Union Star.

Judith was a Christian and had attended Community Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; and son-in-law, Ronald Klein.

Survivors include daughter, Jody Klein; son, Jeffrey Muff (Tracy); grandchildren, Jacob Muff (Layla Sipes), Zackery Muff (Darian Davis), Landon Klein and Ashtyn Klein (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Levi, Paxtyn and Jace.

Ralph Edward "Eddie" Miller 95 of Country Club, MO, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at a local hospital.

He was born May 26, 1926 in St. Joseph to the late Ralph and Bessie Miller.

Eddie served in the U.S. Navy during and after&nbsp; World War II from 1944 to 1946.&nbsp;

He married Rosalie Thompson and they celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to her death.

He spent his career as a painter in the construction industry.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

In addition to his parents and wife, Eddie was preceded in death by two sisters.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ralph Edward "Eddie" Miller 95 of Country Club, MO, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at a local hospital.He was born May 26, 1926 in St. Joseph to the late Ralph and Bessie Miller.Eddie served in the U.S. Navy during and after&nbsp; World War II from 1944 to 1946.&nbsp;He married Rosalie Thompson and they celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to her death.He spent his career as a painter in the construction industry.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition to his parents and wife, Eddie was preceded in death by two sisters.He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.A graveside service and interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

Belen Cordonier 71, of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in a Liberty, Missouri hospital. 

She was born January 29, 1950 in Bacon, Sorsogon, Phillipines, and she has lived in St. Joseph for several years. She was a seamstress working for herself, and at SYR Scott Young Research. She enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, sewing, and spending with her grandchildren, who were her life. She was a catholic. 

Belen was preceded in death by her parents, Inocentes Ariate &amp; Carmon Doctor. 

She is survived by daughter, Sharon (Corey) Smith, Country Club, MO, son, Tony (Tristean) Housell, Pleasant Valley, MO, four grandsons: Allan Smith, Austin (Jasmine) Housell, Chase Furgison, and Jaden Housell, granddaughter, Phoebe Smith, great-granddaughter, Aria Housell, and step grandson, Brendon McElwain. She had several brothers and sisters including her twin brother. 

The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will be cremated following the visitation under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Jerrol Keith Beckwith, 86, went to be with Jesus November 17, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

He was born October 12, 1935, in Larned, the son of Carrol Kneeland and Hazel Carolyn Smith Beckwith.

A lifetime area resident, he was a banker, working in St. Joseph, 
Missouri, and Stafford, Liberal, and Lorraine, Kansas. He was a member 
of Encounter Church, Great Bend and was very civic-minded, serving on 
city councils, volunteer fire departments, and in the United States 
Navy.

On January 19, 1964, he married Oleta Louise Weaver at Larned; she survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Darren (Lisa) Beckwith, Ellinwood; 
daughter, Jill (Aaron) Sauer, Ellinwood; two brothers, Kim Monroe 
(Cheryl) Beckwith, Larned, Kevin Theodore (Suzanne) Beckwith, Perry; 
sister, Kathy Jo (Keith) Johnson, Pleasant Hill, IA; six grandchildren, 
Danielle Beckwith, Oklahoma City, OK, Darrien (Andy) Wiechman, Midland,

Will Walker, AKA One Arm Willie, age 16 of Savannah, Missouri, was surrounded by family and the endless love &amp; support of his community when he won his battle with synovial sarcoma on November 15, 2021 at 8:49 AM.

A beloved son, brother and friend, Will went through so much in his nearly 8 years battling cancer with unwavering courage and always lived life to the fullest. From his Make-A-Wish trip of a lifetime to Hawaii, attending the Kansas City Chiefs’ winning Super Bowl Game, and deep sea fishing trips catching sea monsters, to being on the Ellen show, meeting David Dobrik &amp; the Vlog Squad in LA and riding in their Tesla through the Hollywood Hills, he made so many great memories. Will is truly a hero and an inspiration to so many. He graciously shared his journey like an open book for all the world to see, and along the way, touched and inspired countless followers all around the world. To know him was to love him. He will always be remembered for his sweet smile and his joyous laugh.

To Will’s best friend squad who loved &amp; supported him throughout his entire journey, just know that he’s watching over you all – every shenanigan – so keep him laughing.

William “Bill” Sontheimer, 61, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021.

He was born October 11, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Roy and Susie (Bartlow) Sontheimer.

Bill was a graduate of Lafayette High School and later graduated from Missouri Western in 1995 where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He enjoyed music, especially Dolly Parton, watching Lucille Ball and admired Marilyn Monroe. Bill loved family gatherings and was also the genealogy expert and caregiver of the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Clark; and niece, Jonna Rehm.

Gary Steven Nadolski, M.D., 66, Naples, Florida, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021.

He was born December 9, 1954 in St. Joseph to Adam and Norma (Rhoads) Nadolski.

Gary married Patricia Elizabeth (Fee) Nadolski on July 11, 1980. He was a Central High School graduate and received his undergraduate degree and Medical Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to his diagnosis of a malignant brain tumor and permanent medical disability, he worked as the medical director for Heartland Regional Medical Center, was a family practice physician and surgeon, and radio, television, and newspaper contributor.

Gary was a devout Catholic, a loving husband and father, and was happiest when with his grandchildren. Family and friends were his greatest joy. The practice of medicine was his passion and he enjoyed golfing, skiing, and hiking in the Colorado mountains.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Patricia.

Survivors include daughters, Kristin A. Philips (Jason), Naples, Florida, and Lauren E. Nadolski, Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Princeton, Gabriella, Luke, and Annalise; brother, James A. Nadolski; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born December 31, 1961 in St. Joseph, daughter of Coralyn and Franklin Smith Sr. She attended Savannah High School. Connie worked at Trex Mart Convenience Stores. Her most valued time was with her grandchildren. She attended and was baptized at 1st Baptist Church in Maysville. 

Connie was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Mark "Winston" Wilson, 2nd husband, Gene Wendt, her father, Franklin Smith Sr. and grandson, Colton Manley.
