Bonnie L. Brand, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away at home surrounded by family Friday, April 16, 2021.

She was born June 14, 1933 to Cecil and Martha (Fox) Goodwin. She attended Lafayette High School and Platt College. She worked for First Trust Bank, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Holiday Inn and retired from the State of Missouri Employment Service after 21 years of service. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jim D. Brand; sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Darrel Butcher, Sr.; great-grandson, Rhett Hall; her grandparents, Ed and Cora Goodwin and Bessie and Bill Hulett; aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla (Doug) Johnson; brother, Larry (Shirley) Goodwin; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Maggie), Ryan (Kim), Ashley (Les), Jason (Alicia) Ozenberger, and Angie (Josh) Hall; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her furry companion, Pico.

She loved to dance, music, Christmas and crafts, and having family dinners. She made the best noodles and cinnamon rolls. Her family was the most important part of her life and she loved them all to the moon and back.

James Reed “Jim” Myers, 53, Easton, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born November 13, 1967 to Harold and Nadine (Woltz) Myers in St. Joseph, Missouri.

On May 28, 1988 he married Lori Lutz. They were blessed with two daughters.

He was known as a hard worker. At the age of 14, Jim started working at the Avenue City Gas Station. After marriage, he worked at Hill Construction, Sprague Excavating, Collins &amp; Herman, and Kissick Construction. He was a proud member of the Local 101.

Jim was a selfless man, always taking care of others first. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending many weekends camping with close friends. Jim was well-known for the special breakfasts he cooked while camping. He could fix anything, even if he had to “MacGyver” a solution. But most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Myers; granddaughter, Teagan Redman; mother and father-in law, Shirley and Ernie Lutz; brothers-in-law, Ed Payne and Gordon Bledsoe.

Survivors include his mother, Nadine Myers; wife, Lori Myers; daughters, Taylor Redman (Luke Bradley) and Tristin Kaullen (Jake); grandsons, Tel, Gunner, Mason aka Chunky Butt, and one on the way to be named James Reed; siblings, Elaine Bledsoe, Phyllis Malone (Mike), Vernon Wibberg (Diane), Hal Myers (Angie); brother-in-law, Brad Lutz (Cathy); numerous nieces and nephews; and among many close friends, extended family, Matt and Brandi Dixon, Reece and Abigail.

&nbsp; Jean Ann (Moore) Gregory, 66, Easton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 after a brief illness.

She was born in Clarksdale, Missouri on October 7, 1954 to J.L. and Wanda Moore. Jean graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She married Daniel Gregory on May 5, 1972. He survives of the home. She was a family-owned farmer with her husband in the Cosby and Easton, Missouri area. Jean was also an avid flower gardener and loved spending time with her granddaughter, Summer.

She was a former member of Dairy Farmers of America for 40 years. Jean was preceded in death by her father, J.L. Moore; sister, Cheryl Moore Christian; and brother, Rickie Moore.

Richard E. Cates 71, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born August 25, 1949 in East St. Louis, IL, son of Mary and Jesse "Ferrell" Cates. He graduated from Benton High School, class of 1967, and Missouri Western State College with a B.S. in Business. He married Cynthia Morris on May 14, 1976 in St. Joseph. Richard was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at American Family Insurance as an Underwriter, retiring after 35 years. Richard was an avid sports fan, he loved his dogs, and taking care of his yard. His greatest joy was his family and his daily rides with his son Michael. He was a member of King Hill Christian Church. 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son, Eric Christopher Cates. 

Survivors include: wife, Cynthia Cates of the home, daughter, Jennifer (Frankie) Helm of Brooklyn, NY, and son, Michael Cates of the home, brothers, John (Carol) Cates and Patrick (Janette) Cates of St. Joseph, sisters, Michelle Cates of Columbia, MO, and Nancy (Stu) Walker of El Dorado Springs, MO, and several nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Cates has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. Per his wishes, there are no services scheduled. Memorials are requested to the United Cerebral Palsy of NW Missouri.

Joshua Scott Burns 43, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 in a Saint Joseph, MO hospital. 

He was born March 7, 1978 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Donna Gilgour and Danny Burns. He graduated from Lafayette High School class of 1996, and he was working at Triumph Foods as a fork lift driver. He served in the United States Army, Airborne Division. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, his favorite spot was at Bobs Fishing Lake.&nbsp; He was an avid 49ers fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children, he was very excited to be an upcoming grandpa in August. 

Joshua was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Dick Scott, maternal grandmother, Betty Rice, paternal grandparents, Nancy &amp; Jack Lisle, paternal great grandmother, Carol Louise Burns, aunt, Debbie Rice, maternal grandfather, Carl Gladstone, and niece, Malaya Burns.

Nina was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jesse Lee Helton Jr.&nbsp;

Betty Lorene Cook, 79, of Elwood, Kansas passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Betty was born on February 18, 1942 in Blair, Kansas to Joseph and Ruby (Blanton) Corcoran.

She was a homemaker and retired from the Civil Engineering Department at the Missouri Air National, Rosecrans.

Betty married Jim Cook on August 1, 1970 in Elwood, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2008.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Connie Jo Cave, sister, Juanita Munger and brothers, Joseph and Kirk Corcoran.

Survivors include Jim Cave, Lisa (Doug) Davis, Tommy Cook, Tammy (Ray) Rucker and Larry (Connie) Cook.

Jim and Betty took joy in raising Megan and Tyler Cook.

Sisters, Clara DeMasters, Linda Tennison and Glenda Sanders.

She has numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews.

Lisa A. Sipes, 65, Helena, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 16, 1955 to Dewey and Della (Huffaker) Heath, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

On May 9, 1975, Lisa married Gilbert N. Sipes. He preceded her in death in July 2020.

Lisa was a devoted caregiver, both with her family and professionally, dedicating over 40 years to the nursing profession, most recently as Dr. Vega’s nurse.

Lisa was President of the Helena Cemetery, a member of the Helena Methodist Church and a Helena Park Opening Committee Member. She loved being Nana to her four grandsons and studying genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Della; husband, Gilbert; and grandson, Andrews Sipes.

Survivors include her father, Dewey; sons, Michael (Shawna) and John (Brittni) Sipes; grandsons, Nolan, Jack, Cale and Wade Sipes; sister, Kathy (Kelly) Crawford; brothers, Mick (Dalene) and Tom (Diane) Heath; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy, Christy, Dean, Nancy, and David; nieces and nephews.

Lisa A. Sipes, 65, Helena, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 16, 1955 to Dewey and Della (Huffaker) Heath, in St. Joseph, Missouri. On May 9, 1975, Lisa married Gilbert N. Sipes. He preceded her in death in July 2020. Lisa was a devoted caregiver, both with her family and professionally, dedicating over 40 years to the nursing profession, most recently as Dr. Vega’s nurse. Lisa was President of the Helena Cemetery, a member of the Helena Methodist Church and a Helena Park Opening Committee Member. She loved being Nana to her four grandsons and studying genealogy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Della; husband, Gilbert; and grandson, Andrews Sipes. Survivors include her father, Dewey; sons, Michael (Shawna) and John (Brittni) Sipes; grandsons, Nolan, Jack, Cale and Wade Sipes; sister, Kathy (Kelly) Crawford; brothers, Mick (Dalene) and Tom (Diane) Heath; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy, Christy, Dean, Nancy, and David; nieces and nephews. Allan Blaine Carter 69, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in a St. Joseph health care center. 

He was born April 25, 1951 in Russell, Kansas, son of Irene (Kittel) and Arthur Lloyd Carter. He graduated from Otis High School and Kansas State University, B.S. Business and Accounting, and was a Certified Public Accountant. On August 12, 1972 he married Janice Starosta in Manhattan, KS. Upon graduation he began his career at the Lester Witte and Company accounting firm in Kansas City, and then relocated to St. Joseph in 1977 to work for Gasper and Company. In 1984, he was a founding partner of the Sumner, Carter, Hardy &amp; Schwichtenberg PC. While at K-State he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He was an active member and treasurer of the East Side Lions Club, and served as treasurer of the Lions Missouri Multiple District 26M4. He served on the St. Joseph Museum Board. He was also a member of the Northwest Missouri chapter and the Missouri chapter of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Allan enjoyed bowling, and participated in several area bowling leagues. In 1986, his team won the City Bowling Championship, and placed 3rd at the Missouri State Championship. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, puzzles, collecting antiques, and was an avid coin collector. 

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Gilbert, father and mother-in-law Rollin and Maxine (Barrett) Starosta, brother-in-law Jim Lacey. 

Survivors include wife, Janice; three sons Chris (Christy) Carter of Topeka, KS, Jon (Allison) Carter of Kingwood, TX, and Jeff (Becky) Carter of St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren, Autumn, Tori, Brett, Lilly, Marshall, and Carol; sister-in-law Joyce Lacey, brother-in-law Terry Gilbert.

Helen&nbsp; Irene (Morgan) Koch, RN, 89 of St. Joseph, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at a local hospital.

Born in Hamburg, IA, on March 8, 1932. she grew up at Lebanon, Mo. near Bennett's Springs and&nbsp;graduated from Lebanon High School, in 1950.

She came to St. Joseph to study nursing and met husband, Edward William Koch and was married April 9, 1951.

Returned to Nursing School at Missouri Western State University , Graduated with Associate Degree in Nursing in 1984. Worked at Savannah Medical Clinic for a total of 26 years.

She retired in her early 70's. Her happiest work experiences were in doctor's offices, especially as &nbsp;office assistant and surgical scrub nurse for J. L. Villahermosa, MD, FACS.

She was a Charter member of Pony Express Iris Society, Life member in American Iris Society; Member of BuAnCo Gardeners, Past District Director of Northwest District of Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri, Life member of Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri and Member of YWCA investment Club

Member of Maxwell Heights Church since 1993. Held many offices there. Elder of Board of Sessions for 3 terms.&nbsp; Life time Elder,&nbsp; member of Women's Association, Leader of Maxwell Heights Prayer Warriors, Chair person of Maxwell Heights Ruth Taylor Memorial Education Fund.

Leonard Joseph "Joe" Kieser, 56, of Easton, MO, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the family farm.

Joe was born September 16, 1964 in St. Joseph, to Leonard Eugene and Helen Louise (Moore) Kieser.

He loved to ride his Harley and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Survivors include daughters Hilary Alexandria &nbsp;Kieser, Jennifer Helen Kieser; &nbsp;ex wife Julie Kieser;&nbsp; two sisters,&nbsp; Jean Jaster (David), June Powell (Jon);&nbsp; sister-in-law, Doris Kieser; aunts, uncles, &nbsp;nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends; and his dog Bandit.

Preceding Joe in death were his parents and two brothers Johnnie and J.W. Kieser.

Olga Louise Gronniger, 83, of Troy, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at her home.

Olga was born on February 24, 1938 in Denton, Kansas to August and Eugenie (Davignon) Gronniger Sr.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Benedictine College and worked in Graphic Arts as a manager for Hallmark Cards, there she was known as “the chocolate chip lady”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Henry Paul Gronniger, brother, Joseph Gronniger and niece, Ramona (Ricklefs) Barbary.

Survivors; Nikolaus J. Olga Louise Gronniger  1938 - 2021

Patrick Stephen Bembrick, of Hiawatha, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 9, 2021, shortly after arrival at Hiawatha Community Hospital.&nbsp; He was 52.

Pat was born May 7, 1968, at St. Joseph, Missouri, one of two sons born to Dale and Jackie (Long) Bembrick and was a lifelong resident of northeast Kansas.&nbsp; He grew up at Troy where he attended schools, graduating from Troy High School with the class of 1986.&nbsp; During his high school years, he worked for Troy area farmers on their farms.&nbsp; He later worked in Hiawatha, first at Flair Fold (Abitibi) wood shutter manufacturing plant for 9 years prior to working at Wilde Tool Co. for 26 years of which he currently working as a metal forger.

He enjoyed fishing with his son, drawing, woodworking, music, and the Chiefs.

Patrick married Rebecca Arnold, August, 31, 1991, at Troy. To this union Dean and Vanessa were immediately welcomed to the family. Pat and Rebecca, first lived at Horton a short time before making Hiawatha their home in 1992.&nbsp; Becky survives at home.

Also surviving are son Dean (Michelle) of Santa Maria, CA, daughter Vanessa Tangen of Hiawatha, his mother Jackie Hodge of Troy, brother Mike Bembrick (Lisa) also of Troy; 8 grandchildren:&nbsp; Jacob and Garret Holm, Trinidee Gifford, Arabella Holm, Destinee O’Dell, Daniel Tangen, Zach (Cassie) and Alyssa Tangen;&nbsp; 5 great-grandchildren, with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Dale Bembrick, step-mother Diana, grandparents Charles &amp; M. Maxine Bembrick, Jack &amp; Naomi Long.

Memorial services are planned for Saturday, April 24, 2021 (FOLLOWING SATURDAY), at 11 a.m., at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.&nbsp; Shane Spangler will officiate.&nbsp;

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday.&nbsp; The family will receive friends starting at 9:30 Saturday morning until services.

Patrick Stephen Bembrick, of Hiawatha, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 9, 2021, shortly after arrival at Hiawatha Community Hospital.&nbsp; He was 52.Pat was born May 7, 1968, at St. Joseph, Missouri, one of two sons born to Dale and Jackie (Long) Bembrick and was a lifelong resident of northeast Kansas.&nbsp; He grew up at Troy where he attended schools, graduating from Troy High School with the class of 1986.&nbsp; During his high school years, he worked for Troy area farmers on their farms.&nbsp; He later worked in Hiawatha, first at Flair Fold (Abitibi) wood shutter manufacturing plant for 9 years prior to working at Wilde Tool Co. for 26 years of which he currently working as a metal forger.He enjoyed fishing with his son, drawing, woodworking, music, and the Chiefs.Patrick married Rebecca Arnold, August, 31, 1991, at Troy. To this union Dean and Vanessa were immediately welcomed to the family. Pat and Rebecca, first lived at Horton a short time before making Hiawatha their home in 1992.&nbsp; Becky survives at home.Also surviving are son Dean (Michelle) of Santa Maria, CA, daughter Vanessa Tangen of Hiawatha, his mother Jackie Hodge of Troy, brother Mike Bembrick (Lisa) also of Troy; 8 grandchildren:&nbsp; Jacob and Garret Holm, Trinidee Gifford, Arabella Holm, Destinee O’Dell, Daniel Tangen, Zach (Cassie) and Alyssa Tangen;&nbsp; 5 great-grandchildren, with numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father Dale Bembrick, step-mother Diana, grandparents Charles &amp; M. Patricia "Pat" Ann Chambers 76, of St Joseph, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care. 

She was born January 2, 1945 in St. Joseph, daughter of Lillie and Harry Hendrix. She graduated from Benton High School, class of 1963. Pat retired from Mosaic Life Care after 45 years as a Lab Technician. Her hobbies included playing cards, ceramics, sewing, bowling, and spending time with her family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Clair United Methodist Church. 

Preceding her in death are her father, Harry Hendrix, and mother, Lillie Hendrix-Martin. 

Survivors include: daughter, Kerri Chambers (Blake Kretzer) of St. Joseph, sisters, Charlene Horn and Gwen Hendrix, both of St. Joseph and Brenda Judd of Kansas City, KS, granddaughters, Lauren Chambers (Clay Ide) and Alexis Chambers, both of St. Joseph, and great-granddaughters, Brookelynn Chambers and Paisley Ide, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ms. Chambers has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home. Pastor Rex Strayer officiating. Basketball and Kansas State Football. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was married to Virgil L. Monson on Oct. 14, 1953 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Atchison, KS . Virgil preceded her in death on March 11, 2011. Survivors include two sons John (Mary Lynn) Monson ,Atchison, KS, Greg (Brandy) Monson, Meriden, KS, two daughters Cindy (Stan) Drimmel, Lancaster, KS and Sandy (Randy) Cormode, Atchison, KS, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She retired from MODOT working as a secretary.&nbsp; She loved movies, her dogs, talking on the telephone and loved to shop.

Survivors include granddaughter Rachel Tolliver, brother John Tolliver, uncle John Haskell, other relatives and friends.

Madeline was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Ross, daughter&nbsp; Lacreaca Tolliver, and step-father Richard Ross.

Helen T. Matthews, 85, Savannah, Missouri; passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 11, 2021 at her home.

Helen was born on May 17, 1935 to the late Howard and Theresa (Staszkiewicz) Isbell.

Helen was a devoted wife and mother and also worked as a head housekeeper and caregiver.

Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Catholic faith.&nbsp; She was an avid enthusiast of Western movies, game shows and WWE.

Helen married Earl F. Matthews in 1977. He preceded her in death in 1991.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Stahl (Richard), Kim Hanson (Joey), Deborah Lorraine (Trent), Fawn Whitmore (Ed), Ray Helms, Jr. (Teresa Kretzer) and Ted Dekam; siblings, Howard Isbell, Pat Copeland, Ed Isbell and Jeanie Rozegnal; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Parish Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, April 14 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; Visitation will follow until 7:00 pm.

Daylene Dale Blizzard, 65, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Daylene was born on November 24, 1955 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Charles and Betty (Sherman) Moore, II.

Daylene was a Med Aide for numerous residential care facilities.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Daylene loved her friends and family fiercely, she enjoyed interior decorating, crafts, bird watching, thunderstorms, willow trees, Stephen King movies and her favorite color, purple.

In addition to her parents,&nbsp; Daylene was preceded in death by a brother and grand niece

Daylene is survived by her two daughters, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three sisters.

Ms. Blizzard has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; A private family celebration will be held at a later date.

Donna Fern Morgan-Barnett 90, passed from this life at Living Community Center April 11, 2021 after a battle with heart disease &amp; dementia. 

Donna was born March 27, 1931 in Stewartsville, MO to Eugene A. &amp; Fern A. (Coffey) Morgan. She resided there until the age of 13, when her family moved to Faucett, MO, where she attended and graduated from Faucett High School class of 1949. She married Thomas LeRoy Barnett November 11, 1950. After their marriage, they lived in El Paso, Texas, where LeRoy was stationed with the Army. When returning to the Faucett/Agency area, she enjoyed staying home raising her children as well as owning &amp; operating Bride’s Catering Service. She baked wedding cakes &amp; catered many weddings throughout Missouri &amp; Kansas with the assistance of her Mother &amp; children. She later owned &amp; operated The Bread Board Deli in downtown St. Joseph for several years. Donna was a member of the Pleasure Riders Saddle Club of Dearborn, Mo. She enjoyed showing horses with her husband &amp; children as well as trail riding. She &amp; her family hosted annual trail rides on their farm south of St. Joseph with hundreds of riders attending each year. She also enjoyed participating in the annual cattle drive on their friends ranch in Colorado. She loved attending the events of her grandchildren &amp; grandchildrens friends. She was known as Grandma Barnett to all kids who knew her. Donna was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas LeRoy (1985), son Layne G. (2014), step son David L. (2020) &amp; brother Dale Morgan (2013). 

She is survived by sons; Jim (Julie) Barnett &amp; Wayne (Carol) Barnett, daughters; Ladonna (Dean) Fergison &amp; Linda (Bill) Bywaters all of St. Joseph, sisters; Nigel (Wayne) Adkins of Dearborn, MO &amp; Allie Monaghan of Belton, MO, sister-in-law Twyla Morgan of Faucett, 17 grandchildren &amp; several great grandchildren.

When returning to the Faucett/Agency area, she enjoyed staying home raising her children as well as owning &amp; operating Bride’s Catering Service. She baked wedding cakes &amp; catered many weddings throughout Missouri &amp; Kansas with the assistance of her Mother &amp; children. She later owned &amp; operated The Bread Board Deli in downtown St. Joseph for several years. Donna was a member of the Pleasure Riders Saddle Club of Dearborn, Mo. She enjoyed showing horses with her husband &amp; children as well as trail riding. She &amp; her family hosted annual trail rides on their farm south of St. Joseph with hundreds of riders attending each year. She also enjoyed participating in the annual cattle drive on their friends ranch in Colorado. She loved attending the events of her grandchildren &amp; grandchildrens friends. She was known as Grandma Barnett to all kids who knew her. Donna was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas LeRoy (1985), son Layne G. (2014), step son David L. (2020) &amp; brother Dale Morgan (2013). She is survived by sons; Jim (Julie) Barnett &amp; Wayne (Carol) Barnett, daughters; Ladonna (Dean) Fergison &amp; Linda (Bill) Bywaters all of St. Joseph, sisters; Nigel (Wayne) Adkins of Dearborn, MO &amp; Allie Monaghan of Belton, MO, sister-in-law Twyla Morgan of Faucett, 17 grandchildren &amp; several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Tuesday, at the Rupp Funeral Home, funeral services and public live stream: 10:00 AM Wednesday Rupp Funeral Home, Reverend James Barnett Officiating. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donors choice. The family is requesting patron to wear mask to the visitation and funeral services.&nbsp; &nbsp;<figure>
