Daniel Edwin Hill, born in Los Angeles, husband of the late Mary Lou Parcels Hill of Hiawatha, Kansas, former WW II Army Air Corps flight instructor and USFS Ranger, retired biology teacher of 22 years, passed away on May 24, 2021, at age 97. 

Son of the late Emily Mumford Hill Cole and Paul Foster Hill, he is survived by his daughter, Mary Blackford (Bill); son, Chris Hill (Rhonda); daughter Jennifer Hill; niece Jodie Fisher; nephew Dana Fisher; and grandchildren Rose Blackford and Cable Blackford.

Roger O'Banion 70, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at his home. 

He was born January 28, 1951 in Garden City, MO, son of Arvelma and Oren "Buddy" O'Banion. He graduated from South Nodaway High School, and he &nbsp;served in the U.S. Air Force. 

Roger was preceded in death by son, Preston "Pete" O'Banion, and his parents.

Patricia "Pat" Ann Murray went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2021, with her daughter by her side.

&nbsp;Pat was born on October 28, 1942 in Atchison, KS to Doris Wilson. She was preceded by a son, Dion Murray; brothers Donald Wilson and Bobby Wilson.

Pat was a big-hearted animal lover. She carried treats for her doggie neighbors and enjoyed watching the squirrels in her courtyard. Her greatest joy was being a loving grandmother.

Beverly Cohen, 98, St. Joseph, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at home with her loving family.

She was born in St. Joseph to Philip and Yetta Burnstein and spent much of her youth in the family bakery, Burnstein’s Bakery. She grew up in a religious family and was active at her synagogue for her entire life in many different ways. She is best remembered for volunteering her beautiful voice to the synagogue choir.

She married her true love, Sidney, on February 17, 1946. Together they sang their way through life, entertaining many with their talents and love.

Their love for each other was only outweighed by their love for their family.

Beverly was a woman who was constantly thinking of others and was a true woman of valor. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Yetta Burnstein; brothers, Leo, Irvin, and Arnold; and her beloved husband, Sidney. Survivors: daughters, Karen Bronston (Scott) and Sandy Rosenak (Steven); grandchildren, Scott Rosenthal, Lainie Kirsch, Shayna Rosenak, Spencer Rosenak, and Rachel Wirth; six great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Beverly Burnstein Cohen  1923 - 2021

John Daniel “Dan” Gallagher, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life peacefully at home, Monday June 21, 2021 with family at his side.

Dan was born January 26, 1933, son of David and Helen (Curry) Gallagher in St. Joseph, Missouri. He attended St. James and Christian Brothers schools, graduating in 1951. He also was a graduate of St. Joseph Junior College. Dan was in the Boy Scouts of America and achieved rank of Eagle Scout.

Dan was a proud Veteran, serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He continued a lifelong service as Naval Reserve and later Missouri Air National Guard until retirement. He also worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 33 years. Dan was a skilled carpenter, craftsman, and builder. Throughout his life he built and remodeled many homes, repaired, and refinished furniture, and was self-taught at so many things. There was very little he could not figure out how to do, or fix.

He was especially proud of the design and building of Our Lady’s Prayer Garden at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with his wife Norma Jean. Upon retirement, Dan was a golfer for many years. He loved working outside in the garden, in his workshop full of tools and projects, and enjoying his large, blended family. When life slowed down, Dan took up painting, creating many treasures and keepsakes for family and friends. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Gallagher; 1st wife, Bernie Herbert Gallagher; 2nd wife, Shirley Lawson Gallagher; 3rd wife, Norma Jean Lindensmith Gallagher; and stepson, Philip Lindensmith. Survivors include, daughters, Susie Kovac and husband Mark, Platte City, MO, and Julie Gallagher, St. Joseph; brothers, David Gallagher of California, Mike Gallagher of Kanas City; stepchildren, Kristi and Greg Nikes, Jeff and Roxanne Lawson, Lisa and Danny Gawatz, all of St. Joseph, Mark and Gaytha Lindensmith of Virginia; grandchildren, Dan Gallagher, Jared Gallagher, Adam VanVolkenburgh, Blair Nikes, Kara Langton, Tim Gawatz, Megan Burrell, Brooke Cortez, Camy, Stephen, David and Philip Lindensmith, Laura Schliesske, Rebecca Poulsen; and 16 great-grandchildren.

While living in Atchison, Jim was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, after moving to Lawrence the St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. He was a member and served on the Board of Directors of the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce and served as treasurer. He attended all high school and Benedictine college football and basketball games and did sport reporting for the Kansas City Star, St Joseph’s Newspress, Topeka Capital, and Wichita Eagle Beacon. He named the Atchison Colts, Atchison’s Men’s Team in the MO-KAN League. Jim was a member of the Atchison Kiwanis where he served as President, Lt. Governor of Division 1. International Accredited Representative for Kiwanis International, and Kiwanis Community Services Division Director for Kansas. He continued to be active in the Lawrence Kiwanis Club and was recognized as the only 75-year member of Kiwanis in the State of Kansas in 2017. He is survived by his long-time friend Betty Haley, Lawrence, KS and various cousins and nieces and nephews. His parents and sister, Frances Elizabeth Walsh preceded him in death. A special thank you to his nurturing care giver Cyndi Hurst who made it possible for him to live independent until the end of his life. Jim was a special person with an easy smile, always had a story and a great sense of humor throughout his life.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Randy was born November 1, 1967 to Terry and Virginia (Payne) Fetters in Whittier, CA.&nbsp; His mother preceded him in death on December 22, 2020.

Virginia M. Fisher 95, of St. Joseph, passed Tuesday June 22, 2021 at Benedictine Living Community

She was born on May 23, 1926 in St. Joseph, MO, to the late Ralph and Charlotte (Hitzelberger) Collins.

She graduated from Central High School in 1944. She loved her first job as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell. After her children were school age, she found her second career as the secretary of Wyatt Park Christian Church for 21 years, retiring in 1998.

She married Joseph A. Fisher on June 7, 1947 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where they were life long members. They were blessed with 71 years of marriage before his passing in December 2018.

Her five children survive her; Michael S. (Jeanne) Fisher, Hilliard, OH, Linda A. Daffron, David A. Fisher and Kevin P. Fisher all of St. Joseph and Jane S. (Patrick) Valdepena of Mansfield, OH.

She was blessed with three grandchildren; Keri A (Frank) Nemeth, Kelly J. (Nick) Sarli and Christopher J. Fisher and four great-grandchildren; Frankie and Chloe Nemeth and Josie and Cate Sarli. Her brother; Ralph Patrick Collins (Brother Frederic a Trappist Monk),&nbsp; 98, survives at The Abbey of Gethsemani in Trappist, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Richard Collins, three sisters; Mary Thee, Patsy Sommer and Caroline "Bunny" Harrison.

Virginia was an excellent cook and baker. The family always gathered for Sunday dinner until her move to Living Community. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and those that were fortunate enough to have known her.

Everett L. Brizendine III, 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Clarksdale, MO, on June 21, 2021.

Bud, as he was known by family and his many friends, was preceded in death by his parents Ema Jean Brizendine and his father, Everett L. Brizendine, Jr.

He is survived by sisters Karen (Neil) Wigger, Sandy Zug, Cindy McClain, and Debbie (Jim) King.

Nancy A. (Absher) Prawl, 82, of Stewartsville, Missouri passed away Monday, June 21, 2021.&nbsp;

Nancy was born on February 27, 1939 in Wathena, Kansas to Wilbur and Annabel (Parker) Absher.&nbsp;

She was a member of the Central Christian Church and was a Bank Teller for United Missouri Bank St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp;

Nancy married Wallace Prawl on November 14, 1959 in Wathena, Kansas. He survives of the home.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Tom Prawl and a brother Tom Absher.&nbsp;

Additional survivors: son, Dr. Tim Prawl (Angela), &nbsp;

Grandchildren, Lance Prawl (Cindy), Drew Prawl, Makenzie Dahlgren (Matt), Reid Heidel and Dr. Kaitlyn Walters (Josh).&nbsp;

(LaVoris) "Maxine" Corbet (93), passed away peacefully Sunday (April 12, 2020) morning at Maple Heights Nursing Center in her hometown of Hiawatha, Kansas.&nbsp; Her daughter Carolyn Rosenberger was by her side, holding her hand, at the time of her passing.&nbsp;

Maxine was born on December 3, 1926, north of Hiawatha at the home of her parents Ernest and Beulah (Starrett) Jimeson.&nbsp; She attended the one room Hart Grade School and graduated from Reserve (Kan.) High School in 1944.&nbsp; While working as a soda jerk at Spaulding’s Drug Store in Hiawatha, she met a man whom everyone just called Kenny.&nbsp; On March 9, 1947, she married that man, Kenneth George Corbet, at the Reserve Christian Church.&nbsp; They would spend the next 55 years like two peas in a pod before Kenny passed away on August 18, 2002.&nbsp; Maxine and Kenny spent the first 20 years of their marriage on farms in northern and eastern Brown County before moving to Hiawatha in the spring of 1967, where she would spend the rest of her life.

With her husband Kenny working countless hours to provide for her and their six children – Steve, Jim, Debbie, Max, Alan and Carolyn – Maxine was the&nbsp;ROCK&nbsp;of the family.&nbsp; She created a loving atmosphere for her sons and daughters, and their many friends, which brought the greatest joy to her life.&nbsp; She was a mother who was always there to provide love, compassion, sympathy and hard knocks when needed.&nbsp;

One trait that always stood out was her cheerful and fun disposition, which endeared her to her grandchildren.&nbsp; Born happy, she left this world content. &nbsp;She was one who never took life too seriously, and that included herself.&nbsp; Growing up during the depression she learned to become one of the most resilient people a person would ever meet.&nbsp; While life would be throwing curve balls and hard balls her way, Maxine understood from an early age to keep swinging and eventually the hits would come her way.&nbsp; While times could be tough and some meals might consist of ham salad (bologna) sandwiches or macaroni and eggs with pork and beans, she was also a master chef who could always provide a full course meal at any time, and on time, for whomever stopped by.&nbsp;

Along with her full-time occupation of loving wife and mother, Maxine also found time to serve as a cook at Hiawatha High School.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was an active member of the Alta Vista Club, the Rainbow Club, the Red Hat Club, Eastern Star and many church circles.&nbsp; The Reserve Christian Church where she grew up, and the First United Methodist Church in Hiawatha where she worshiped her adult life, provided her with a solid foundation.&nbsp; Outside providing support at home for her devoted husband Kenny, the church is where Maxine volunteered countless hours.&nbsp; From helping prepare dinner for a grieving family, applying makeup and sewing clothes for the annual live nativity scene at Christmas, to just cleaning the kitchen and taking out the trash, the church is what inspired her.&nbsp; She passed this inspiration along to her family and many others.

Maxine is survived by her sons Steve Corbet (Judy) of Clearwater, Florida; Jim Corbet (Toni) of Biloxi, Mississippi; Max Corbet (Belinda) of Boise, Idaho; Alan Corbet (Tina) of Kansas City, Missouri; and daughters Debbie Heaton (Jim) of Dallas, Texas; and Carolyn Rosenberger (Richard) of Hiawatha.&nbsp; She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and her sister Mary Ann Hards (Delmar) of Everett, Washington.&nbsp;

She was preceeded in death by her husband Kenny, her parents Ernest and Beulah Jimeson, and sister Fran Owen (Tracy) of Seattle, Washington.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha from 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday (April 19).&nbsp; &nbsp;A private graveside service will be held on Monday (April 20) at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.

Leslie “Diane” Esely, 69, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021.

Diane was born to Lloyd and LaVonne Dowden on December 2, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She lived here all of her life and attended Central High School and Northwest Missouri State College.

Diane was a member of Brookdale Presbyterian Church.

She married Frank K. Esely on February 24, 1973. Diane worked as an Administrative Secretary before retirement after 22 years in the St. Joseph School District. She also worked prior to that at St. Joseph Toyota/Jeep/Eagle, Casey Meyers Ford, and Imperial Oil.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Diane is survived by her husband, Frank; son, Brett Esely and wife Kate, St. Joseph; two grandchildren, Dax and Ashtyn, St. Joseph; one brother, Larry Dowden and wife Cindy, Omaha, NE; two nieces, Shannon Thoendel and husband Martin, Omaha, NE, Courtney Wheeler and husband Matt, Kansas City, MO; and six great nephews and nieces.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 26th, 2021, at the St. Louis Church, Good Intent with Fr. Hughes Sundeme as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster KS. A parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Friday, June 25th, at the St. Louis Church, Good Intent with visitation to follow until 8:30 pm. Tim enjoyed the 4th of July Celebration and St. Patrick’s Day, mushroom hunting, and especially his grandchildren and family. He was married to Sandra “Sandy” Vittitoe on June 26, 1982. She survives of the home, Lancaster. Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Gunter  1968 - 2021

Dianne Elaine Ashmore, 81, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021 in St. Joseph with family at her side.

Dianne was born in Correctionville, IA on October 26, 1939. She remained in Iowa for a few years after graduating high school before venturing out to see other places. During her lifetime she lived in many places throughout the United States, as well as in Mexico.

Having previously lived in Missouri, Dianne decided that it would be her forever home and returned in 1987. She resided in Joplin, Forsyth, and St. Joseph before moving to live in Albany for several years. She then spent a few years in New Hampton before returning to St. Joseph in 2020.

Dianne worked as a real estate agent, a social worker, and - oddly enough - a long-haul truck driver, but was chiefly a homemaker. When she was of retirement age, she bought a farm to fulfill her dream to raise chickens, sheep, and llamas. She enjoyed gardening, sewing (there was nothing she could not make on a sewing machine,) and baking.

Dianne is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and though she did not participate in services for the last few years of her life, her Heavenly Father was a source of peace and security for her until the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Max Willoughby Ashmore and Doris Elaine Ashmore, and her brother, David Earl Ashmore. Dianne is survived by her children: daughter, Elaine Bundy (Portland, OR,) and son, David Bundy (Columbia, MO); grandchildren, Aaron Bundy and Ariel (Bundy) Schlorff, and great-granddaughter, Roselynne Schlorff, all in St. Joseph.

A private service will be held graveside June 23, 2021 at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, St. Joseph. Arrangements under the direction of Rupp Funeral Home.

The family sends heartfelt thanks and gratitude to St. Joseph Senior Living and AseraCare Hospice for providing care and comfort in the last days of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother’s time with us. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association.&nbsp;&nbsp;

William "Bill" D. Strain, 76, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Bill was born October 11, 1944 to Virgil and Alice (Sayers) Strain in Rensselaer, IN.

Bill was a U.S. Marine from 1962 - 1966.&nbsp; He served in the Vietnam War and was wounded and received the Purple Heart medal.&nbsp; Bill was a VFW member in Rensselaer.

&nbsp;On June 30, 1973, he married Sarah "Salli" Strain.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

Bill worked as an electrician at Allied Mills, Midwest Mobile Radio, KQTV as Chief Engineer and the St. Joseph School District as an IT and Audio/Video Engineer.&nbsp;

William "Bill" Strain  1944 - 2021

On June 17, 2021 Jennie Clinton, 92, of St. Joseph was reunited with her husband of 54 years, George W. Clinton, who passed in 1998, surrounded by family and friends under the watchful care of Jason Atkinson of hospice she went peacefully at the home she shared with her grandson Dakota Cloud for the past 13 years.

Born in LA Calif as the 2nd girl of a set of twins in 1929.&nbsp; She married George H. of Wathena, in LA in 1945.&nbsp; The family moved to current home in 1966.

She was preceded in death by husband, twin sister Vera Hawkins, daughter Judy Higgins, son-in-laws, Charles Edwards, John Higgins, Jerry Redmond, Jim Blizzard, and Danny Capps, and a grandson George R. Clinton.

Survived by Linda Clinton, Nita Blizzard, Beverly and John Prock, George &nbsp;and Carmen Clinton, Charles and Brenda Clinton, Nancy Capps, Karry and Robert Price, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Jennie Clinton  1929 - 2021

Gladys Irene (Adkins) Grable, 94, of St. Joseph, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 18th 2021. 

She was born on April 30th, 1927 in Butler, Missouri. Daughter of Martha (Thomas) and George Adkins. She married Charles Grable on April 7th, 1945 in Atchison Kansas, and they shared 67 years of marriage together before he passed. Many will remember Gladys as their friendly “Avon Lady” or sweet server at the Bucket Shop. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, participating in craft shows, but even more so, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the DeKalb Christian Church. 

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Charles: two brothers, Nelson and Lester Millsap: two sisters, Zella Goade and Mildred Sager, as well as her Parents. 

Survivors include: four children: Gary Grable, Roger (Dee) Grable, Brenda (Mike) Miljavac, and Mark (Rhonda) Grable. All of St. Joseph. Ten Grandchildren; Jamie (David), Chad, Kevin, Kim (Chris), Todd, Clint (Andi), Eric, Dana, and Marky &amp; Lindsey (Patrick). Twenty nine great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service. Randa "Randy" Jo Silvey 64, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at home in Saint Joseph. 

She was born February 22, 1957 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She graduated from Central High School, class of 1975. Randy worked in the Medical field, and at Community Housing as an apartment manager. She then retired from the St. Joseph School District as a boiler engineer. She enjoyed fast and slow pitch softball, and played in several local leagues. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, singing and dancing, and loved socializing with her friends and family. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Gladden, step father, Gordon Gladden, father, John Carrel, and husband, Arnold Silvey. 

She is survived by daughter, Carrel Lee (Shawn) Thompson, step son, Ray Silvey, step daughter, Angela (Silvey) Caswell, brothers, J.D. (Ruth) Carrel and Jeff (Paula) Carrel, sisters, Jodie (Guy) Rocha all of St. Joseph, and Brenda Calvert of Savannah, MO, former husband, Kenny O'Dell, grandchildren, Tanner, Conner, &amp; Kenlea Thompson, Devin &amp; Audrey Silvey, Kaelynn Burchett, and Derek Caswell.

Charles Steven Turner 72, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday June 18, 2021 at home, in Saint Joseph. 

He was born January 31, 1949 in St Joseph, Missouri son of the late Fern Berniece &amp; Royal Turner. He graduated from Stewartsville High School, and served in the National Guard for  6 years. Charles was a very talented Brick Layer working in the St. Joseph and Kansas City Areas. He loved music, his animals and Casey's donuts. He was one of Jehovah's Witness'. 

Survivors include: sons, Shane Turner, Phoenix, AZ, and Heath Turner, Grain Valley, MO, daughters, Raquel (Eric) Hopper, St. Joseph, Shelia Awad, and Becky (David) Myers, brothers, R.T. Harold L. Dawson, Sr., 69, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021.

He was born November 10, 1951 in St. Joseph to George and Bernice (Hodge) Dawson.

He married Janice Kay Thomas on October 14, 1972. She survives of the home.

Harold was the owner/operator of Spic-N-Span building maintenance company for 48 years.

Harold was very passionate about his family, grandchildren and friends. He took care of us all in one way or another in his lifetime. He was absolutely the strength of his family and would never let anyone go without. He was passionate about playing golf with his brother Marty, and lifelong friends Charles, Arley, and Steve. (He says they’re easy to beat.) His heart belonged to his wife, Janice. Everything he did was for her. He was, is, and will always be her security.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Roberts; grandchildren, Gregory Roberts, Jr. and Ashley Roberts; siblings, Shelby Dawson, Carla Dawson, Dorothy Dawson, Denice Rogers, Karla Dawson, Marilyn Smith, Mary Stockstill, Jack Dawson, Frank Dawson, Rick Dawson, and Donna Despain.

Harold L. Dawson, Sr.  1951 - 2021

Tom V. “Tommy” Townsend passed peacefully and gently from this life on June 15, 2021, in his own home, just shy of his 95th birthday. 

He was born July 6, 1926, in Bolckow, Missouri, to Cal and Eva (Violett) Townsend, the tenth of eleven children, all of whom preceded him in death.

In 1947, he met and became engaged to the love of his life, Nancy L. Schulte. They married a year later and savored 72 years of married life until her death in 2020. Together they raised five children: Steve (Cheryl) and Don (Annie) of Maryville Missouri, Ken (Peg) Shawnee, Kansas, Fred and Jane (Randy) of Kansas City, Missouri. They welcomed fourteen grandchildren – one of whom preceded them in death – and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

Tom’s professional work life began at Lewis G. Moore &amp; Co. in Maryville, in a host of positions ranging from radiator repair, service and sales of new and used autos and farm equipment, to eventual management. During that time, he also taught welding and other associated skills in programs established for veterans returning from WWII. In 1987, he purchased the business, moving it north of Maryville, forming Northwest Power Sales. Tom continued to work there daily through 1996 when he passed the business to his son, Don. Tom and Nancy also founded Northwest Services, a temporary employment agency, which they operated from the same location, serving local production industries for many years.

He was a man of strong faith, converting to Catholicism when he married Nancy. He remained active in parish and school councils for years and enjoyed involvement in both local and state level Knights of Columbus activities throughout his life. He was a valued member of numerous service organizations in Maryville, but the project closest to his heart was being instrumental in helping establish the Sheltered Workshop, now NoCoMo Industries, in Maryville, providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities. He served on many boards and committees in both the public and private sector.

Music played a vital role throughout his life. From his first guitar to years of ballroom dancing, there was a constant tune humming from his lips. Tom and Nancy were extremely social, forming a rich circle of friends. He had a great curiosity and loved to chat with everyone! They traveled extensively, both domestic and internationally, but his favorite place was right at their kitchen table, surrounded by people he loved, having a game of cards and a slice of pie.

Tom taught so much to his children; life lessons as well as practical skills. Everyone could plumb and wire a house; most could weld and rebuild a small engine. They all built houses and cars and businesses later, based on what was involuntary assistance during their formative years at his side. He encouraged most all ideas and plans, often supplying start-up financing – at market rates, of course. “If you think you can, or you think you can’t – you are right,” was his perspective; he never doubted a person’s potential. He spoke with laborers at the same level of interest as he did bankers and always tried to leave folks with their head held a little higher. He loved to provide encouragement and opportunity to others, loved making a deal, and loved witnessing success stories. The most important lesson Tom lived was his deep and lasting love for his wife, Nancy. Never a harsh word between them, they set a beautiful example of true love and commitment. Her death last fall brought a sadness to Tom, but he did not languish in self-pity, instead he found joy in remembering so many wonderful moments, often speaking of memories long forgotten. He felt very fortunate to have shared his long and lustrous life with her.

A private family funeral mass is planned. An informal public visitation, open house, and celebration of Tom and Nancy will be held Saturday, June 26, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the home (26859 Isadore Ave. – Maryville). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Townsend Family Scholarship Fund at Conception Seminary College, c/o Faith Murray, Development Department, P.O. Box 501, Conception, MO 64433.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He served on many boards and committees in both the public and private sector. Music played a vital role throughout his life. From his first guitar to years of ballroom dancing, there was a constant tune humming from his lips. Tom and Nancy were extremely social, forming a rich circle of friends. He had a great curiosity and loved to chat with everyone! They traveled extensively, both domestic and internationally, but his favorite place was right at their kitchen table, surrounded by people he loved, having a game of cards and a slice of pie. Tom taught so much to his children; life lessons as well as practical skills. Everyone could plumb and wire a house; most could weld and rebuild a small engine. They all built houses and cars and businesses later, based on what was involuntary assistance during their formative years at his side. He encouraged most all ideas and plans, often supplying start-up financing – at market rates, of course. “If you think you can, or you think you can’t – you are right,” was his perspective; he never doubted a person’s potential. He spoke with laborers at the same level of interest as he did bankers and always tried to leave folks with their head held a little higher. He loved to provide encouragement and opportunity to others, loved making a deal, and loved witnessing success stories. The most important lesson Tom lived was his deep and lasting love for his wife, Nancy. Never a harsh word between them, they set a beautiful example of true love and commitment. Her death last fall brought a sadness to Tom, but he did not languish in self-pity, instead he found joy in remembering so many wonderful moments, often speaking of memories long forgotten. He felt very fortunate to have shared his long and lustrous life with her. A private family funeral mass is planned. An informal public visitation, open house, and celebration of Tom and Nancy will be held Saturday, June 26, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the home (26859 Isadore Ave. – Maryville). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Townsend Family Scholarship Fund at Conception Seminary College, c/o Faith Murray, Development Department, P.O. Stanley Luis Rock 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in a Saint Joseph, MO., hospital. 

He was born June 3, 1944 in St. Joseph, MO., son of the late Leota and Pete Rock. He graduated from Benton High School and St. Joseph Junior College, Northwest Missouri State University, Bachelor of Science in Sociology, he also received his Masters Degree in Sociology. He married MaDonna Ford in 2009 and she survives of the home. He worked at Western Regional Diagnostic Correction Center, in Cameron MO, and the State Hospital and St. Joseph, MO as a Teacher. He served on the board of directors of Wolfner Memorial Library in Jefferson City, MO., was a former member of the St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Joseph, MO. 

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include, wife MaDonna Rock-Ford of the home, daughter, Nellie (Will) Trigg, granddaughter, Tianna, brothers, Steve Rock, and Patrick (Vickie) Rock, and a sister, Barbara J. Rock all of St. Joseph, MO.

"Nick" went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2021.&nbsp; He was born in St. Joseph, MO on March 24, 1945 to Rose and Nick Erganian, Sr.

A 1963 graduate of Lafayette High School, Nick excelled both in academics and athletics.&nbsp; After high school Nick attended Northwest Missouri State University earning both a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master's Degree as well as serving as Student-Body President.&nbsp; Nick continued his education at UMKC earning his Ed. S. degree.&nbsp; Nick completed his education at California Western University with a Doctorial degree in Education.

In May of 1967, Nick married his college sweetheart Marylin Mosiman, daughter of Louise and Robert Mosiman of St. Joseph, MO.&nbsp; This union was one of true love and the two spent the rest of their lives together enjoying one adventure after another.&nbsp; The marriage brought forth two children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Spending time with his family was one of Nick's greatest joys in life.

Nick's professional career, spanning over forty years, was focused on education and healthcare.&nbsp; From his beginnings as a teacher and coach at Benton High School, Nick went on to devote his life to bettering the future of young people as a guidance counselor, college administrator and eventually public school superintendent.&nbsp; Nick's career led him into healthcare where he served as the Executive Director for the Northwest Missouri Area Health Education Center as well as the Executive Vice President of the Heartland Health Foundation.&nbsp; He also served as a consultant for St. Michael's University in Burlington, Vermont where he started&nbsp; and managed a highly successful campaign to provide facilities and scholarships to students attending the University.

Erganian (Tandy), daughter Kristin Lemon (Corey), grandchildren Collin Lemon, Paige Funk (Brian), Drew Lemon, Nshan C. Erganian, Hope Erganian, Jessica Wuest (Lee) and Stephanie Smith, great-grandchildren Serenity Smith, Ivy Wuest and Amelia Funk, sisters Mary Rose Denning, Carolyn Freese and Roxy Shipps, Uncle Noray Sarkisian and multiple nieces, nephews and in-laws.While Nick achieved more than a lifetime of success and accomplishments, he always maintained that his greatest legacy was being the most loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family.&nbsp; We are so proud and blessed to have had him in our lives.There will be a Celebration of Life at Ashland United Methodist Church in Fellowship Hall on Tuesday June 22, 2021, from 4-7pm.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Christopher Huff Memorial Scholarship Foundation.<figure>
