Nadine Holferty Wilson, age 94, died Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Addington Place of Lee's Summit.&nbsp; She was the beloved wife of Joe Holferty, Hank Wilson and Gene Williams, who predeceased her.

She was born in St. Joseph on September 11, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Jesse and Bertha Wagenblast.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1944 and went on to graduate from the K.C. Secretarial School, class of 1949.

She was a Charter Member of Northgate Baptist Church, Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA President and an Election Poll Worker for over 50 years.

Nadine's greatest joy in life was spending time in the company of her loving family.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jodeane and Craig Brown, her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Kristine Holferty, her daughter-in-law Linda Wilson , wife of the late Craig Wilson; eight grandchildren, Hilary Blair, Joel Brown, Amanda Harrington, Rachel Hinton, Adam Holferty, Jackson Holferty, Jonathan Comer and Jennifer Wilson; twelve great grandchildren, &nbsp;Phoebe and Gretel Blair, Esther, Isaac, Silas, Anna Charlotte, Phineas and Benjamin Harrington, Reese, Hope, Ivy and Jane Hinton; and several nieces .&nbsp; She was predeceased by her son Craig, her husbands, and sisters Naomi Culp and Leota Olson.

Her Christian faith and strong value system guided her through life and will continue within many of us for generations to come.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Patee Park Baptist Church, with the funeral&nbsp; service following at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2020.&nbsp; Burial service will take place 2:30 PM at Blakely Cemetery.&nbsp; All attendees&nbsp; are required to wear masks and practice social distancing.&nbsp; Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

Samuel L. Abarr went home to the Lord on December 14, 2020. 

Born in Mount Ayr, Iowa on July 18, 1954, Sam married Sue Abarr in 1975 in St. Joseph and had twins Ashley and Austin Abarr. Sam had the best laugh, and the worst handwriting of anyone you’d ever meet. He was the best navigator and the best travel buddy who’d drop whatever he was doing to help anyone in need. He was a fighter for what he believed in and those he loved. The world is a little less fun, a little less forgiving today without him in it. If you wanted to see his eyes light up, you could talk about his kids, his days on the Chicago North Western railroad, or his love of flying with his former employers, Trans World Airlines (TWA) and American Airlines. Sue, his wife of 45 years and high school sweetheart, brought home dogs from the shelter that he would complain about who would then become his best friends for years after. He loved politics and he’d be so happy knowing Biden was taking over in a few short weeks.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents Luella and John Abarr, grandmother Minnie Jackson, and siblings Bill, Marcia, and Nancy. And several really good, loyal dogs.

Sam is survived by his wife Sue Abarr, twins Ashley and Austin (wife Kiela, sisters Connie McCrary and Judy Jones, his brother Jack Abarr, and several nieces and nephews and their children.

Margaret (Marge) Mary Sanders, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020.

She was born June 1,1940 in St. Joseph to Richard W. and Eugenia M. (Murphy) Snooks. Margaret married Robert L. Sanders on September 8, 1962. He preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of Cathedral Parish, attended Cathedral elementary, Convent of the Sacred Heart high school, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Barat &amp; Duchesne Colleges. She was a case worker for the St. Joseph School District(3 yrs.), secretary for Cathedral School(2 yrs.), secretary at Summers Realty(7 yrs.), then was office manager/bookkeeper at Cathedral Parish(27 yrs.). Marge was a Benedictine Oblate with the Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica, enjoyed singing in Cathedral choir, the Sweet Adelines, and volunteering at the Cathedral Food Pantry. She was a member of St. Anne’s Altar Society, assisted with RCIA, lead couple of Marriage Encounter, Sacred Heart Alumni Association, Charitable Ladies of St. Joseph, Junior League, SIS (Sisters in Service), Show Me Women Who Care, and a past board member of The Elderly through InterServ.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Richard; and grandson, Finnegan Joseph Hausman.

Survivors include children, Rob Sanders (Julie), Dan Sanders (Michelle), Michael Sanders (Vicki) and Jennifer Hausman (David); grandchildren, Andrea, Marcella, Annabelle, Gantt, Wynn, Hannah, Jacob and Isabella; great-grandchildren, Iverson and Xavier; brother, William Snooks; and sister, Mary Garvey (Bill).

Sharon K. Lohmeyer 73 of St. Joseph, MO., passed away Sunday December 13, 2020 at Diversicare Riverside. 

Sharon graduated from Benton High School in 1965 and later received her Bachelor's degree from Missouri Western in May 2001. She worked for Townsend &amp; Wall and Associated Grocers doing advertising. She also worked for Heartland Foundation and retired from Mosaic. Sharon loved camping, crafting and had a passion for rescue dogs. 

She is survived by her mother Fern Clizer, sisters Susan Broce (Gary) and Rhonda McGlothlin (Gary), and brother Scott Lohmeyer. She was preceded in death by sister Sandra Lohmeyer. She has 2 nieces, Jennifer Focher and Kendra Lohmeyer and 3 nephews Jamie Broce, Jeff Broce and Kevin Lohmeyer. She has 4 great nieces and 4 great nephews.

Stanley "J.R" Francis Kizior, Jr. 73, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. 

He was born November 5, 1947 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Alice and Stanley Kizior. He graduated from Benton high school, then served in the United States Air Force, serving two tours in Viet Nam. He is the recipient of the National defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal AFM. He was a Hydraulic Specialist with TWA, and also owned and operated Stanleys Heating and Cooling. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. 

Stanley was preceded in death by wife, Linda Kizior, his parents, and sisters, Charlene Grimm and Mary Alice Schreiber. 

Survivors include, daughters, Tammy (Gary) Gibson, Topeka, KS, and Michelle Helfery, St. Joseph, MO, step-sons, Jason Williams and David (Stacie) Williams of St. Joseph, MO, brothers, John (Angie) Kizior, Mesa, AZ, Jim R. He was born January 17, 1945 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Hyla and Lawrence Sample. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School class of 1963 and married Jeanne on November 23, 1963. He owned and operated Auto Tool and Paint in St. Joseph. He enjoyed volunteering at his church Our Lady of Guadalupe, going to swap meets with his friends, and going to the Lake of the Ozarks. He was an avid reader, but he most especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #571 and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jeff Sample. 

Survivors include wife, Jeanne Sample of the home, son, Lawrence "Paul" (Jacky) Sample, St. Joseph, MO, daughters, Paulette (Tom) Million, St. Joseph, and Julie (John) Akers of Glen Haven, CO. seven grandchildren: Randi Powers, Tyler Million, Blair Garwood, Tanner Million, Karli Auble, Melissa Agbincola, and Amy Saufley, 6 great grandchildren and 2 on the way. The family would like to thank Fruedenthal home health care and hospice for all their wonderful care they gave to Larry and our family.

Gary Lee Hamm, 70, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday December 14, 2020 at his home in St. Joseph. 

He was born April 5, 1950 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of Dorma &amp; Clarence Hamm. He married Karen Currier, the mother of his 3 children, they later divorced. He attended Lafayette High School and worked for Crouse Milling, Wonder Bread and Friskies. Gary enjoyed playing softball and cards, He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. Most of all, he loved his family and his children. 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Donita Kier, Marilee Grippando, Patti Guardado, Karen Whitten and Judith Marcell Root. 

He is survived by children, Shannon (Gary Jr.) Kretzer of St Joseph, Amy Gaddie of Springfield, MO and Scott Hamm of St. Joseph, brothers, Dean (Cindy) Hamm, of St. Joseph and Roy (Kathy) Hamm of St Joseph, 6 grandchildren, Haze, Caleb, Emma, Molly, Max, and Paisley.

Patrick F. O'Conor, 72 of Savannah, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020. He was born February 23, 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas to the late Lawrence and Irene (Peck) O'Conor.

Patrick attended Shawnee Mission West High School. He worked at Veterinary Medical Supply and owned his own business as a Home Improvement Sub Contractor.

He married Connie Wohlgemuth on November 23, 1974, in Roeland Park, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Also surviving are his sons, Chris (Schonna) and Sean (Melissa) O'Conor; grandchildren, Tyler, Zack, Avery, Jace, Tatum, Ethan and Emily; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Malcolm .

Marjorie Praiswater, 89 of Savannah, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020.&nbsp; She was born on October 11, 1931 in Savannah, Mo. the daughter of Dorothy and Robert Getz.&nbsp;

She married Melvin Praiswater on November 6, 1949 in Bolckow, Mo. They celebrated their&nbsp;70th&nbsp;wedding anniversary with friends and family in November last year.&nbsp;

Marjorie was a dedicated wife and she loved to care for her family. She was an active member in&nbsp;the Savannah United Methodist Church. She loved bird watching and was an accomplished&nbsp;baker. Her passion was gardening, caring for a home and garden full of flowers.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Marjorie is survived by her brother Bobbie (Dorothy); four sons Doug of Olathe, Kansas; Ronnie&nbsp; (Earlene) of Maysville, Missouri; David (Rhonda) of Topeka, Kansas; and Michael (Catherine) of&nbsp; Albuquerque, New Mexico; five grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

The family will receive friends 10 to 11 am Saturday December 19, at the Heaton-Bowman Smith Savannah Chapel followed by a Memorial Service at 11 am. Inurnment will follow the&nbsp; service at Savannah Cemetery.&nbsp;

She was born September 16, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri to Joe and Martha Geha.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

The true joy of her life was her daughter, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Sarah, Marge and Elizabeth, brothers Dick, Bill and George and her husband Leo.

Survivors include daughter Anita (Bob) Nelson, grandchildren Bobby (Juli) Nelson and Amy (Brad) Grooms, great grandchildren Madison and Abbey Grooms, Jack and Cole Nelson and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce Lee Davis, 65, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020.

He was born October 17, 1955 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Bruce married Sharon Ashlock on February 2, 2019. She survives of the home. He grew up in Excelsior Springs, where he worked for the Job Corps. After moving to St. Joseph, he worked at Johnson Controls until retirement. He was a member of the IUE-CWA Local 86116. Bruce was an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 6 and a member of the St. Joseph Bass Club. He loved fishing, camping and being in the woods. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Tanis Dalton; former wife, Sherry Wall; and stepdaughter, Theresa Garner.

Additional survivors include children, Amber Wallace (Josh), and Jared Davis (Tracie); stepdaughter, Ginger McGuire (Pat); stepson, Shawn McBride; grandchildren, Kaje, Chloe, Ethan, Jacie, Cooper, Jerzi and Gracelyn; step-grandchildren, Owen and Eisely McGuire and Cody and Gracie Garner; great-grandson, Kylo; brothers, Terry Davis and Jerry Davis (Renee); sister, Lisa Bowles (Tim); numerous nieces and nephews.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, Lillian Newcomb passed away at the age of 95. Lillian was born on July 25, 1925 in Jackson, NE to Guy and Louise (Hicks) Coddington.&nbsp;

She married Charles (Chuck) A. Newcomb on June 12, 1947. She lived most of her life in the Sioux City, IA and South Sioux City, NE area until they moved to Wathena, KS in 1979.&nbsp;

Lillian was a very friendly person and loved her family. She enjoyed volunteering at the Wathena Senior Center, Nursing Home and Methodist Church where she was a long-time member, as well as her time working for the Wathena Times. She loved Wathena and the many friends she made over the years.&nbsp;

Lillian is preceded in death by her husband Chuck; son Charles Newcomb and her Daughters-in-law, Dawn and Monica and Son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Davis; parents and brother, Guy Coddington. She is survived by her sons Guy (Brenda) in Georgia, David in Iowa, and Roger (Wendy) in Nebraska and her daughter Elaine (Randy) in Missouri, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Wathena, Kansas&nbsp; -&nbsp; Linda Marlene Rathmann, 85, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Carriage Square Nursing Home in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp;Linda was born on May 7, 1935 in Germany to Carl and Emma Sprenger.&nbsp;She was a homemaker and so much more. Linda was of the Lutheran Faith.&nbsp;Linda married Donald E. Rathmann on February 23, 1953 in Germany. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2008. Robert Stephen Jury, 83, passed away on December 11, 2020 peacefully at home.

Bob was born March 15, 1937 in Topeka, Kansas to William Harold and Lelia Mae (Youngman) Jury. He married Karen Swanson Jury May, 31, 1959 in Topeka.

&nbsp;He attended all his schooling in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1955. He went on to attend Kansas State University where he earned a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1960. After graduation he spent his career working with Farmer Cooperatives (40 years), including Coops in Belle Fouche, South Dakota, Fort Collins, Colorado and Hiawatha, Kansas. However, most of these years were spent in Sublette, Kansas (30 years).

Bob married his college sweetheart, Karen. The couple had four children and Bob is survived by his wife, Karen Jury; two sons, Dr. James S. Jury and wife Sharon of Wichita; John Jury and wife Rhonda of Sublette; two daughters, Jane Heeke and husband Phil of Great Bend and Jenny Preston and husband Mike of Kansas City; eight grandchildren Lauren Tatlock, Whitney Klaas, Lyndi Goodman, Beau Jury, Kate Valido, Ky Heeke, Sam Preston, and Emily Keener and three great grandchildren, Oakland Goodman, Elliott Tatlock, Lynette Klaas&nbsp;

&nbsp;Bob was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His first priority was always to take care of his family and he left behind a strong Christian heritage. He and Karen attended Grace Evangelical Church in St Joseph, Mo.&nbsp; Bob loved the Lord Jesus and always sought to live according to His teachings.&nbsp; His family is blessed with the assurance that Bob is at rest in his loving Father’s arms in Heaven. He lived his life thanking Jesus for His saving grace and always ended each of his prayers with “I love you, Jesus.”&nbsp;

A. Nadine Messick, 90 of Fillmore, MO, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at a local hospital.

She was born on December 3, 1930 in rural Holt County, MO to the late William and Frances Hughes.

She was a hard working farm woman who loved her flowers, especially her iris, which she shared with many friends and family over the years. She had a circuit of weekly dances that she attended whenever she could. She did love to dance !

In addition to her parents Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Forrest "Sam" Messick and brother; Earl Junior Hughes.

Survivors include her children; daughter Karen (Roger) Adams, St. Joseph, MO, &nbsp;sons; David Messick, Oregon, MO, Dale Messick, Danny Messick and Donnie Messick all of Fillmore, MO, brother; Jerry (Ida) Hughes, Savannah, MO, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Messick&nbsp; has been cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at &nbsp;Fillmore Cemetery.

The wearing of masks and social distancing will be required.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. &nbsp;

Shirley was born and raised in Pocahontas, Iowa, graduating from the high school in Pocahontas. She married George W. Point in 1956 at Neosho, Missouri.&nbsp; She was active with the Liberty Senior Center and attended Platte Woods United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty (Wigersma) Cornelius; daughter, Terri Donati (Daryl); sons, Rick Cornelius (Theresa), Randy Glidewell (Catherine); 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born March 31, 1930 in Livingston County, Missouri to Benjamin Franklin and Mildred (Cowan) Griffin. Helen married Chester Jones December 24, 1948; he preceded her in death October 23, 2020. Helen spent her early years in Oklahoma during the great depression. Her father Ben brought their family out of the Dust Bowl to Missouri in the mid 1930’s. His sister and her family went to California, but Ben thought that was too far. They lived by Braymer, MO where she went to school and graduated. After a time, she went to Kansas City and worked, coming home on weekends. At a local festival she met Chet, her Montana cowboy, the love of her life. In later years after raising her family She worked at Quaker Oats and retired after 27 years. Helen enjoyed spending time with family, shopping at secondhand stores with her daughter, wintering in Palm Springs, CA., and fishing at Lake of the Ozarks where they had a cabin.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Melvin Griffin.

Survivors include children, Beverlie Jo Griffin (Jerry), Randy Jones (Brenda), Rick Jones (Valeri); grandchildren, Cody “Wyoming” Griffin (Kimmi Queen), Casey Griffin (Lyndsay), Jake Griffin (Sonya), Ernie Griffin (Tammy), Max Sutton (Julie), Ed Stockwell, Steven Stockwell, Jesse Jones, Wyatt Jones (Samantha); 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Kelly; brothers, Bob F. She was born May 2, 1954 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Alma and Eugene Braman. She graduated from Savannah High School, and she attended Missouri Western State College. She is a veteran of the United States Air Force. She worked as a Psychiatric Aid with Northwest Missouri Rehabilitation Center. She loved to travel, going from the west to east coast. She was a member of the New Life Cathedral Church. 

Sally was preceded in death by her father, Eugene I Braman, and brother, Glenn Braman. 

Survivors include: Mother, Alma R. Braman, husband, Larry Blanc of the home, sons, Anthony (Geraldine) Salvato, Seattle, WA and Richard Salvato, Kansas City, KS, granddaughter, Gypsy Salvato, sister, Bertha Vanderbilt, Platte Woods, MO, and brothers, Donald Braman and Roy (Sue) Braman. 

Funeral services: 2:00 pm Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Rupp Funeral Home, Reverend Robert Flach officiating. Military Honors under the auspices of the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Inurnment will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.&nbsp;

Sally Ann Blanc 66, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. She was born May 2, 1954 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Alma and Eugene Braman. She graduated from Savannah High School, and she attended Missouri Western State College. She is a veteran of the United States Air Force. Vincent Jerald Griffey 58, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 in a Saint Joseph health care center. 

He was born April 27, 1962 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of Mary &amp; Lavelle Griffey. He attended Lafayette High School, and he owned Midwest Photography for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially enjoying those hobbies with his son Jason.  He was also a drywall finisher for many years. 

Vince was preceded in death by his father, Lavelle Griffey, son Chris M. Griffey, and great grandson Kayden. 

Survivors include: his mother, Mary (Jim) Ozenberger, St. Joseph, MO., wife, Kristi Griffey of the home, son, Jason (Heather) Griffey, St. Joseph, MO, five grandchildren, Ashley, Trinton, Jordan, Ariel, and Dalton, great-granddaughter, Phynlee, great grandson, Jameson, sister, Sharon (Mike) Portman, brothers, Bruce (Robin) Griffey and Jim (Pam) Griffey. 

He will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers to the Vincent Griffey Memorial Fund in care of Rupp Funeral Home.
