Yet another legal battle over Missouri’s redistricting process is now before the state Supreme Court.
The Missouri Supreme Court is set to hear arguments Wednesday on whether the governor had the authority to call a 2025 special legislative session to redraw congressional districts.
A Cole County judge ruled the governor had that authority, but the Missouri NAACP appealed, arguing the session did not meet the constitutional standard for an extraordinary occasion.
Lawmakers approved a new congressional map during that session, and it is set to be used in the 2026 primary unless a statewide referendum moves forward. The court’s ruling will help determine how Missouri’s congressional districts are used in upcoming elections.
