The City of St. Joseph announced the Joyce Raye Patterson 50+ Activity Center will temporarily shut down for planned elevator repairs starting April 20.
Construction is scheduled to wrap up by May 18, 2026.
The center will not be open to patrons from April 23 through May 9 while the work is underway.
According to a news release, staff will use the closure period to deep clean the facility, handle minor repairs and complete touch-up painting.
When the building reopens, temporary changes will be in place for parking and entrances. Twelve temporary parking spaces will be located near the main entrance at South 10th and Edmond streets for individuals who use canes, walkers or wheelchairs.
Patrons able to use the stairs are asked to park on the lower-level.
