The annual Donut Dash 5K will have virtual and in-person options this year, but all the donuts will be real.

Kristi Bailey with the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce says those who would like to participate virtually will have until October 31st to complete the run.

“You just post a picture on Facebook with you somewhere on the route and you’ll receive a t-shirt, a finisher medal and a coupon for a donut from Gold-N-Glaze," Bailey tells St. Joseph Post. "So you still get everything everyone else does, but you just get to do it on your own in your own time.”

Bailey says there will be safety precautions in place for the in-person race on October 24th and participants will be required to wear masks if they ride the shuttle from the finish line back to their vehicles.

Bailey says the 5K raises funds each year for  Mount Mora Cemetery, the Patee House Museum and Robidoux Row Museum.

“This year in particular, all of those places have seen a big decrease in funding, because of the coronavirus and shut downs and people not visiting and the Patee House, also, had some very serious storm damage earlier this year, so they need to raise money this year now more than ever.”

The in-person Donut Dash begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 24th at Patee House Museum.
