Billy Joe Hill of Dearborn, MO went home to be with Jesus on Saturday November 11, 2023. Billy was the 13th child of James W. Hill and Pearl Francis Hill. Billy was born on December 3, 1939 and spent most of his life in the Platte County, MO area, where he helped his dad on the farm. Billy met the love of his life Edith Pauline Soffray, and they were married in October 1960 at the Christian Assembly Church in Weston, MO. After his marriage, Billy purchased a farm in Weston, MO where he raised several crops. He took pride in each crop that he raised, but his overall favorite was his tobacco. In 1984, he received an award for outstanding Tobacco farmer by the Missouri Council for Burley Tobacco. Along with farming, Billy worked as a welder for Altec in St. Joseph, MO. In 2007, Billy retired from Altec and enjoyed the rest of his years growing big gardens, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Billy is survived by his 4 daughters; Paula(Rick) Robinson, Weston, MO, Vera (Mark) Henke, Dearborn, MO, Donna (Jimmy) Crockett, Weston, MO, and Pearl Cattell of Kansas City, MO. Billy is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, Chad, Daniel, Brett, Angel, Ashley, Jessica, Reece, Kristi, Sarah, Shelby, Corbin, and many great grandchildren. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his two brothers Eddie Hill, and Eugene Hill. A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2023. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 17 at First Christian Assembly Church of Weston. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston.
