Al Flores

Al Flores, 90, died Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home in Dodge City.

He was born January 23, 1931 at Meade, Kansas, the son of Pablo and Cecilia (Molina) Flores.  He graduated high school in Dalhart, Texas, attended college at Pratt Community College and received his Bachelors from Denver University.  He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.  He was a longtime Dodge City resident where he worked for Davis Salsbury Floorcovering as a floorcovering specialist for over 55 years until retiring.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 4th Degree Member of Knights of Columbus Council 2955, Life Member of VFW Post 1714, Life Member of American Legion Post 47 and Esquibel Brothers Chapter GI Forum all in Dodge City.  He also was as a driver of foster children for St. Francis.

On February 26, 1961 he married Caroline “Nina” Duran at Sacred Heart Church in Pratt.  They later divorced but remained very close.

Survivors include: his daughter, Angela Flores and husband Tom Rebein, Dodge City; his son, Alan Flores and wife Teresa, St. Joseph, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Megan Kitts, Kayla Keeshan and husband Zac and Courtney Flores; 4 great grandchildren, Caden Rebein, Brooklyn Rebein, Rowen Keeshan and Huxley Keeshan; a brother, Richard Flores and wife Mary, Mulvane, Kansas; 2 sisters, Tillie Absher, Wetumka, Oklahoma and Jane Park and husband Laurence, Pittsburg, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Mel, Vincent, Frank and Paul Flores.

Vigil service followed by Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:00 pm Sunday, September 19, 2021 both at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Monday at the church with Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding.  Burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Dodge with full military honors by American Legion District 8 and the United States Marie Corps Honor Guard.  Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 4:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
