In the midst of tornado season in Missouri, and following Buchanan County's first tornado warning of the year, the St. Joseph Fire Department is getting prepared.
Officials with the St. Joseph Fire Department say the department is preparing to be on standby to help with rescue, recovery, and cleanup efforts, focusing more on recovery and rescue.
According to the University of Missouri Climate Center, on average, the Show-Me state experiences just over 30 tornadoes a year.
