Posted May 19, 2023 7:21 PM

Trecla Miller Deterich sadly left this worldly earth on May 18, 2023 at the age of 78. Trecla was born in Winchester, VA on January 1, 1945 to Tresa and Clark Miller and raised in Inwood, WV. She has been a brave Alzheimer’s warrior since being diagnosed in 2019, when this horrible disease finally took its toll on her weak body.

After Trecla graduated from Musselman High School, class of 1962, she attended West Virginia University (class of 1966) where she was a Kappa Delta. While at WVU, she met her soulmate, David F. Deterich. They spent the next 56 years together exploring the world, thanks to the U.S. Air Force. Together they raised two beautiful girls: Laura Deterich Pixler and Lisa Deterich Brenneman.

Trecla was involved with Brooks Bird Club and 4H as a child. After having children, she became involved with Girl Scouts, eventually earning the Thanks II Badge, the highest award a volunteer can get. She always loved being creative, sewing custom outfits, singing, cooking, watching sports and traveling. Later in life, she would do anything to spend time with her 5 grandchildren.

Trecla is survived by her devoted husband: David Deterich; her 2 children and their spouses: Laura and Rodney Pixler; Lisa and Jason Brenneman; 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Zach and Maggie Pixler; Zoë Pixler and Mark McGarry; Liberty Brenneman and Tstuo Kadhim; Marlena Brenneman; Joshua Brenneman; Trecla is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law: Ann and Taylor Deterich.

Trecla was predeceased by her mom and dad, Tresa and Clark Miller; her brother, Dale Miller; her sister and husband, Christina and LeGarde Armel; and her other sister and husband, Anita and Al Britton.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 3:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the Service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Ascend Hospice who graciously cared for Trecla these last 9 months and/or Alzheimer's Association as they continue to search for a cure for this horrible disease.
