Stephen Terry Engnes, 78, Plattsburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 7, 2025.
He was born August 8, 1946 to Alvin and Minnie (Lewis) Engnes in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Stephen's journey was one filled with many experiences earned from attending multiple schools across the country, owing to his father's job, ultimately graduating from Marshall High School.
A Vietnam War veteran who served in the United States Army, Stephen carried the same spirit of service into his civilian life. For over 40 years, he worked in construction excelling in various roles at Clarkson Construction. He also channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into Steve’s Custom Towing, a business he owned and managed for several years.
An active member of Local 101, Stephen was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his hobbies. His passion for muscle cars led him to restore them, indulge in drag racing, and eventually establish Mr. Lucky Racing. Stephen also found joy on the golf course.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Olin Engnes, Marilyn Wierschke, and Kathryn Payne.
Survivors include his brother, Alan Engnes; children, Kim Plummer (Mark), Tracy Johnson (Paul), and Adam Engnes; grandchildren, Shelby Weimer, Emily Babb, Alex Weimer, Noah Plummer, Avery Plummer, Marin Johnson, Katie Engnes, Taylor Coldren, Karerra Meza, Dawn Rapp, AdamStephen Engnes, Angelina Engnes, Kaylynn Engnes, and Shelby Larson; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 2, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 3, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
