Billie Gretchen Jasper, 84, of Atchison, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Overland Park Medical Center. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Tony Carter, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the funeral home. Gretchen was born on May 26, 1940, in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Raymond Carl “Bill” and Marjorie Marie (Lance) Gillispie. After her mother’s death, Gretchen and her siblings moved to Atchison and was raised by her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Bertha Lance. She was a homemaker and was an amazing caregiver to numerous children who were entrusted in her care while their parents worked. Gretchen was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed watching the KC Chiefs, KC Royals and the Nebraska Corn Huskers. Gretchen loved attending the sporting activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gretchen married Charles Merle “Jack” Jasper on October 24, 1957, he preceded her in death on July 23, 2009. A brother, Donald Gillispie also preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters, Donna Jasper, Kansas City, MO; Jackie Jasper, Atchison, KS; Michelle Streeter, Atchison, KS; a brother, Gene Gillispie, Lincoln, NE; a sister, Lynn Keimig, Atchison, KS; two granddaughters, Ashley (Matt) Stout; Hilary Jasper, six great grandchildren Mackenzie Page, Mackena Thompson, Deacon Stout, Kamren Thompson, Madalynn Stout, and Blake Stout and numerous nieces and nephews.
