COVID vaccines will now be offered at the St. Joseph Health Department starting today.
St. Joseph Health Department Clinic Supervisor Connie Werner says the vaccines will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.
“In order to continue to have a sustainable method to provide vaccines to the community, we are now starting to offer those in our clinic during regular business hours,” Werner tells St. Joseph Post.
Werner says at this time the vaccine offered during the clinic will be Pfizer.
“For the city of St. Joseph we have both Moderna and Pfizer and it depends on the situation,” says Werner. “If there is a possibility of having 12 years of age and older, we’ll use Pfizer. If it’s an adult targeted population and we have Moderna to use as well, we can offer that as well.”
Werner says if people do not have the protection of the vaccine, COVID virus cases will only continue to rise.
“COVID is still in our community and is still spreading quite rapidly,” says Werner. “The vaccine is our number one tool to help combat the spread of the virus and we certainty want to offer it as opportunistic as we can.”
These will be offered on a walk-in basis, during regular business hours Monday through Friday.
The vaccine is free, and health insurance and government ID is not required.
