Donald Eugene Chesser, 83, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He was born October 26, 1939 in St. Joseph, son of Gladys "Ruth" and Elix Chesser.
He graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1957. He married Christine "Chris" Boling on August 29, 1959 in St. Joseph. Don was a professional Truck Driver and member of the Teamsters Local Union in St. Joseph and Kansas City. He worked for Affilliated Foods and Crouse Carriage Company, retiring in 1999. Don was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of the American Legion, Post 359. He enjoyed traveling, going camping, dirt bike riding and hill climbing and loved hunting. Don was a good handy-man and all around fixer upper. Don was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Gladys "Ruth" and Elix Chesser and great-granddaughter, Sondra.
Survivors include wife of 64 years, Chris Chesser, of the home, daughters, Lucinda "Cindy" (Bob) Rilinger of Kansas City, MO, and Patricia Chesser of Kentucky, brother, Gary (Marla) Chesser of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Tyler James, Cassie Chesser, and Spencer Suman, great-grandchildren, Stella, Elijah, and Stan, niece, Shari (Scott) Matchell and nephew, Lenny (Mary) Chesser, and many cousins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home with Pastor Sid Robbins officiating. The Interment with Military Honors will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
