Joe Town Mini Golf announced this week their purchase of Cool Crest Garden Golf in St. Joseph.

Cool Crest was originally opened in 1948 by Jan and Guy Saxton, operating for 70 years as an entertainment destination for northwest Missouri.

"Many have very special memories of their visits over the last 70 years," Joe Town said on Facebook.

Joe Town Mini Golf plans to start restoring Cool Crest "the way you remember it to be," with the same operations and obstacles on most holes, along with the flowers and the name Cool Crest.

"We feel privileged to have been given this task at hand," the course said on Facebook.

Cool Crest is expected to reopen by this summer.

"We look forward to what 2021 will be for the friends and families of St. Joe, NWMO and further," the staff said. "We are grateful to all who have supported Joe Town Mini Golf thus far. Without that, we would not have had this opportunity."

St. Joseph Post has an interview with Joe Town Mini Golf management on Monday, January 11. We'll post an updated version of this story at that time.
