While Lafayette will not be a part of the Midland Empire Conference next season, one Fighting Irish basketball coach will be leading a different MEC team next season.
Lafayette girls basketball coach Ryan Madison has been named the next Cameron Dragons girls basketball coach. Madison has been the girls basketball coach with the Fighting Irish since the 2023-'24 season. He has gone 63-18 in those three seasons including two 20+ win seasons, coming a double overtime loss shy of a district championship this past season and making it to the district championship in each of the three seasons.
This was Madison's second stint at Lafayette. He coached the Fighting Irish from 2010-2018. Along with the two stops in St. Joseph, Madison has also spent time coaching at Stanberry, Bolivar, Capital City, and Neosho.
