Michael W. Aerts, 73, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026.
He was born June 17, 1952 to Eugene and Marilyn (Woolard) Aerts in Tucson, Arizona.
Michael served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era.
Michael built a respected career as a business analyst for Walmart’s Home Office, where he worked for 15 years.
He was also a member of the American Legend Post #1000, where he found fellowship and camaraderie among those who shared his appreciation for service and community.
He enjoyed being a dog trainer, a pursuit that allowed him to share his patience and natural ability to work with animals. He also had a strong interest in computers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alan Aerts.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; children, Dr. Jennifer Terry (Walter), Wendy Fanucchi, Michael Aerts (Amanda) and Courtney Foster; 6 grandchildren; and brother, Larry Aerts (Dianne).
Graveside Farewell Services and Interment 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 8, Mount Auburn Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Friday, May 8, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The procession will leave from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Joseph.
